why 350z? if you want more power then 300z brake upgrade, get a 300zx brakeupgrade kit. go to twinturbo.net and see whats out there

well i want to get the 350z brakes cause my friend is selling his front and rear to me for $1000.00. i was going to get only the rotora 4 piston front upgrade and that will cost me around $1000.00. the 350z comes with brembo 4 piston is front and brembo 2 piston in rear. i thought the 350z kit is more worth it.

Ohh. Ahh.. 4 piston front and 2 pot rear? ... wait.. I've seen that somewhere. Ah, yes. A 300zx. AFAIK, nobody knows how to make a 350Z ebrake setup work on a 240sx. Hell, the 300zx mystery was solved within the last 12 months. So without an ebrake assembly set up, you can't use the rears. And $1000 for the fronts is, well, insane. A 300zx setup will cost you $400. The track edition 350z with the 6 pot calipers would be worth it.
The last few things you'll need to know are if the calipers and rotors will clear your wheels.
I do have 300zx brakes, and think that anything else on a 240sx is overkill unless you're doing some serious racing. With a slight ammount of pressure, I can lock up my tires easily. I really don't know if you have 300zx brakes now and aren't satisfied, if you want to do something different, or just want better than everyone else. If it's the last two, I really say just get the 300zx brakes and blow $500 on an exhaust or some other power upgrade.

that's a good point, i need to find out about the ebrake setup now. i'm not just getting the front for 1k im getting the front and rear for 1k and it's comming off the track model. right now i have the z32 brakes but on a four lug setup. im going to convert to five lug and im pretty sure the 350z brakes will fit in my longchamp wheels. the z32 brakes are great but i want something nobody has. thanks jeff.

Q45 brakes aren't as popular as the 300zx brake upgrade...I've heard a myth that altima brakes are an upgrade...
Somebody told me that the 3000GT VR4 calipers are the same as the Z32 ones by Sumitomo....put those on....that-a-ways your calipers will say "Mitsubishi" on them under your wheels....hah hah hah ! :P

Altima brakes are not a myth.
VR4 calipers are QUITE different, but you can utilize VR4 rotors with a proper spacer with Z32 calipers.
FWIW, i've seen a Z32 sporting MKIV Supra calipers, with the 'Supra' still on there. Of course, it was wearing HRE wheels and making ~600whp, so I don't think anybody would knock him for having Toyota brakes.

haha...ILLMATIC?!? You are buying these off of richard right? That's cool. He wanted me to buy them to when I bought my 240 but I wanted to go with the rotora instead so I told him I'd think about it. Hopefully they will work and you can buy them off of him.

I think the 3000GT ones are 32mm (like GTR), not 30mm used with the Z32.

VR4 rotors can be used with 30mm z32 calipers, and a bracket to allow for a larger diameter rotor. never heard of anyone using the VR4 calipers, seems pointless when it works with z32 calipers.

these are the longchamp rims on my fd. sorry the pic isnt too good.
Good Lord, that car is the SEX!! Very nice wheels, very nice kit! My two complaints are the white grille/mesh stuff in the vents, and the GT wing. I'd either paint the mesh black or get rid of it, and the wing should be HIGHER not to mention the somewhat strange looking side pieces. :D Sexy stuff.
What are the specs for the FD? suspension? engine work?
edit: pics are GREAT quality! Nice and high-res. :)

Yea, I was reading a Summit while typing, probably at the Wilwood brake kits ( :aw: ) and just typed erronious information.
The 350Z (track, other models I don't know) has the same 12.8" rotors and FOUR piston calipers as a R34. I think I've seen R34 calipers on Zilvia or Ebay or something. Anyway, I'm still sticking with my first post, the section that says there isn't a lot more performance that you can get over 300zx brakes that would enable (me, at least) to justify the extreme price difference.
-Jeff
You scared me for a bit there, I thought there were 350Zs out there with brembo 6 pots! Mmmmmm, that would be a nice brake upgrade. :)
FWIW - The one main difference I see between a 300zx 4 pot and aftermarket 4 pot upgrade is weight. Unless you get the aluminium calipers, that's a lot of unsprung weight; even the alum. ones are probably significantly heavier (due to OEM over-engineering) than any aftermarket (esp. wilwood, who have extremely light calipers) aluminium brakes!

Mr. cwest FD. I say you skip the brakes, keep your Z brakes, upgrade the master cylinder and prop. valve. With the money extra, upgrade to some pimp ass 2way super duper lock LSD! Quality of wood is better than quality of the paint! ILLMATIC!

Would those calipers from the 350Z track edition also include the rotors?
Personally year old calipers and rotors at each corner for $1000 would be a deal. While you could get 300ZX brakes for $400-500, you'd still have to spend more to get the rears and in the end would probably run you around $900 total, for junkard or rebuilt parts that at the newest are still going to be 7 years old. The Brembos, while overkill, would be much newer, look better (sexy factory finish vs. high temp paint in a can) and be very unique.
The downside of course is getting the rears to work and the added unsprung weight. You'll probably also want a larger MC and custom SS brake lines
(same as going with 300ZX brakes at each corner). Cost for cost though it does sound like a bargain and I'd probably jump on them if I were you.
As for altima brakes, I suppose they are an upgrade over stock, though being fwd, I'm not sure how well the offsets work out. They are definetly bigger, not by a lot though. I'd think for almost the same money the Q45's brakes would be a much better upgrade that would still let you run just about any wheels that wouldn't fit over 300ZX brakes.

i m going with vr4 rotors cause i think when the brakes fill the rims it looks hot, but when doing the z swap it isnt that much extra to use vr4 rotors, they are like 300 for power slot or ebc, maybe 200 for oem? (dont buy ebay ones with the "perferated hat") and the spacers are like 100-150, i m gonna use z brakes on the rear, and stay 4 lug........unless i find front spindels and hubs

Wow. Those look really, REALLY nice!! Let us know how the install goes, and how much custom fabrication is needed to make them work. :) Good luck!

I looked into the 350z brembos a bit back.. they were very expensive. $800ea from nissan.. so I dropped that idea real fast. But $1000 for front and rear AND rotors.. I'd have maxed a credit card for that.
