View Full Version : Daily driver w/fried MAF->What are my options? ASAP Thanks...

As some of you may know,I've been having trouble with my '91 FB not running right,and cutting off...etc.,I took it to the local nissan dealership today,and they told me my MAF was no good,they said it was leaning out the engine,and in addition to the affects of that,its messing up my "perfectly good" 02 sensor readings....they said it'll be about $500 JUST FOR THE MAF.....I have a N/A KA,with nothing but an eBay CAI on it(OBX header,carsound cat,and universal muff sitting in my closet though) and was wondering if I could convert to any other better MAF for cheaper or the same money?

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

I think if I have to replace it,I might as well UPGRADE it :duh:

look for a MAF at your local junkyard, or ebay, or craigslist, or even here on the forum. A LOT of ppl pull their stuff out for sr swaps. I'm sure you willl have no trouble locating a used MAF for under 75 bucks.

I'm really hoping if I can convert it to something better ? ....but if I can't or its too much $$ I'll do that,but I need to make a decision like now...

i wouldnt do it if your motor is stock. IMO it's up to you..i think you can get cobra of z32 MAF kits for like 200 bucks..ppl usually get em to run bigger injectors.

I don't know what size injectors to run lol.....:(

look dude. i remember reading your plans of building your ka. just get something to make the car run for now. Then when you build your motor, then power goals, the turbo and the motor will decide which components you will need. Dont waste moeny on it now.

PM me, I have a MAF just lying around. I always go to junkyards to see if I can get extra parts. It's for a S13 dohc right? if not, I have a S13 sohc as well.

heh could that be the reason for mah engine light goning on and off sometimes , although I checked mah MAF and it doesn't appear to be connected because I went to clean it but it seems like the connectors are broken, but my car is runing juss fine.. ? if it's a prob.. I mite take it off your hands Nitewalk..heheh

hey mistaanime, if you want the maf, I'll include the plug I cut off to go with it. I take the plugs with the stuff when I go to junkyards because my plugs/connectors always seem to get jacked or a piece cracks off.

aiite cool..if the deal goes through wit the knob..i mite juss get the MAF while im at it..I think it's fuked up but not sure hehcar's runing good and strong..so i have no clue if theres anything wrongs..as long as i pass smog but that isn't until another year heh.
