Just looking for some advice on headers to use that will allow me to fit in a magnaflow high flow cat on my s14.

Recently got megan headers and down pipe, as well as I'm told to be an RSR catback some guy bought when in japan and brought back.

and this down pipe

The "RSR" catback is a full 3" catback with a massive canister muffler that has a 4" tip. Kind of stream lined, it has eliminated some of the stock bends and has a sleeved design, making it one whole pipe running from the cat to the rear bumper.

The problem I ran into is that when I installed the headers, then attached the downpipe, the catback bolted right up to the downpipe; leaving no room what so ever for the high flow cat.

I find the car to be much too loud and droney of a noise to keep it this way, and to be honest want the cat in there. Any idea what headers will leave room for this, or more to the point, if I get a set of 4-2-1 headers like OBX will it eliminate the need for the downpipe and leave enough room for the cat and flanges to bolt it up to each exhaust component.

tldr: high flow cat won't fit between downpipe and catback, no room. What headers will eliminate need for downpipe and leave room for cat.

Thanks for the help.

Seems like the catback isnt a catback lol. Id say go with something quieter from the cat back that actually fits

Yeah, I had no idea they made exhaust systems that had a built in test pipe section, so to speak.

I put a Greddy 3 inch on my s13 and I had room to bolt on a high flow cat between the exhaust on the downpipe

Why not hook it up, goto an exhaust shop, and have them add the converter?

sounds like your catback has a built in test pipe section man, because the megan downpipe and header end at the same spot as the stock downpipe and header.

what coating is that on the headers, make sure you clean up all the finger prints and grease after you're done w/ the install (before firing it up). isopro alcohol works really well, get all the oily prints off of it or it'll burn on the metal.

You said that the exhaust has a sleeve design... Is that the type where one pipe is flared out and you slip it over the other pipe and clamp it down? If it is, can you just cut off a section of the unflared pipe to make it shorter and make room for the CAT?
