For those of you who were here before this place got crazy-popular, hi. For the rest of you, good lord, where did you all come from? As the kids would say, mad props to Mark. This place is hoppin'.
Anyway, I know a lot of you were lieing awake into the wee hours of the night, staring at your ceiling restless, consumed by the nagging thought of not knowing what that Jeff kid from 'Jersey who used to post at Zilvia wound up buying. I'm sorry. That wasn't fair of me to do that to you.
Ideally, I would own two cars: one convertible and one coupe. But, we do not live in an ideal world (ie: Japan, where the Varietta is available), so I had to comprimise some other way. I can only afford one car, and the one car I decided sat best between my desires was the .. gasp .. Honda del Sol.
[ ducks to avoid fruit ]
I know, I know. I bought a Honda. But, I gotta tell you, it's really a blast to drive. The top stows in seconds, really letting in all the wind and sunlight one could ask for. It also clicks back in place just as quickly, offering all the quiet smoothness someone else might ask for. Will the wonders never cease?
So, breathe a sigh of relief everyone. The hunt has ended. But, know that I will never forget good ol' car number five - the forever beloved '91 SE coupe that brought me to this site in the first place. Ahh, those were the days. =)

Honda boards? You kiddin' me?
me: "So guys, I just bought a del Sol. It's great and all, but you got any ideas?"
hondakiddy1: "Shit man, you need some stickers, yo!! Get that Type-R shit all up in there!! Vrooomm!!"
hondakiddy2: "No way, dude!! He doesn't need to go faster, he needs to sound louder. You even said it yourself. Yo, buddy, swap out that #### stock exhaust for something four inches wide. It should be colored too - to match your a/c vents."
hondakiddy1: "Hondakiddy2, you got a/c in your car? Man, kick ass. I bought the stripped to the bone model so I could afford clear tail lights instead."
me: "Sigh. I miss Zilvia."

Congrats...that's not a bad car, especially if it's the 160hp del Sol VTEC. FWD kinda sux, but at least the chassis was designed to be a 'vert. If you plan to get any info off the net from message boards and the like, check out www.purehonda.com . I hadn't been there in a long time, but it used to be a good site...most of the people that frequented the boards were anti-rice and a few really knew their stuff...the site itself has thousands of pages of info and has a gigantic membership. Last time I was on they were talking about making it paid membership so it might not be so hot anymore, but it should be worth a check.
*sorry to promote another website, allbeit a Honda site, Mark...just being helpful.
**edit
just took a quick look and it seems to have changed alot and doesn't have or I didn't see the informative archives/articles section...however I did see alot of familiar names--the people that knew what they were talking about...in particular, "fritz 269" is like a genious or something.

Ah - the prodigal 240 owner!
I won't chide you about getting a Del Sol over a Miata... since your excuse for 240 vs Miata was 1) too small and 2) chick car. I won't chide you...
Anyway, that is a very fun little car if you got the B series and a decent car if you have the D. I don't recall if that is a shortened EG chassis (like the hatch) or not, but you can do lots of fun things with it. I'd recommend www.honda-tech.com Good people - some rice-jockeys just like anywhere else, but some really cool guys too. Lots of road racers in certain forums and a lot of people who are taking those cars to the next level (e.g., Taz Harvey & Roger Foo are members that occasionally post).

del sols aren't bad cars. they're kinda small, but that's what i wanted and was planning to get because i realized i couldn't afford a $9,000 del sol, and found a 240sx for $2,500.
I used to like that car, when I was shopping for a car, my first choice was a 2.5RS, which would be nice in the winter, and I also looked at 240sx and del Sol, but I kinda took 240SX off my list for a while, because RWD is terrible, at least that's what everyone told me. But one day, I looked in the newspaper, and there it was, 97 240, and my uncle say "RWD isn't that bad in the winter", so I just bought it, and I love it.

The "chick car" aspect didn't really bother me regarding either the del Sol or the Miata. A VW Cabrio is one thing, but I don't think either of the other two are all that chicky.
The Miata really was super, super small though. And, although the del Sol is too, inside it doesn't feel that way. It's quite comfy, and every passenger thus far has been surprised by that. Plus, one minute it's a coupe, the next it's basically a convertible. It is by no means the best of either, but certainly the best both.
Plus, I still come here. I remember my roots. I will always miss my 240. I just crave fresh air and sunlight a tad too much for my own good sometimes.
And thanks everyone for both the support and the suggested links. When my manicure finishes drying, I'll have to go take a look at them. =)
Is this the same Jeff that had a 94 240 and sold it cauz of the upcomming winter? This place did grow really fast didn't it...I think there were about 200-300 members when I joined now look 800+ I think we should have some sort of party when we hit the 1k mark

Ha Ha Ha  It sounds like US hondakiddies are pretty much the same as the UK ones. There is a real growth in the Japanese car modding scene in the UK right now and the current Honda trend is.. "Fit a Veilside kit, massive ice and white wheels and all the magazines will put you on the front cover!! :cheesy: The funny thing is that a veilside kit costs the same as a small house over here so the honda boys are all paying a fortune to have identical "combat" bodykits!!!!!
