I just put in an SR20DET into my 91 240. pretty much stock engine except cams(268in 274ex) and an equal length turbo mani with a t3/t4 turbo.

It does start but runs very rich, so much that it cant be driven. Its sputers and wont rev past 2500rpm as if the MAF is unpluged. There are no codes and every wire has been checked all the back to the ECU. When i pinch the fuel delivery line a little the idle goes perfectly smooth and the richness goes away. i still have a stock feul pump too. I checked and changed the FPR from a car that i know works fine and it still does the same thing. I checked all the injectors and none are sticking open and are working fine. Do any of you have any other advice on what i should do?

Thanks

Won't rev past 2500 = MAFS is bad

Did you try switching the MAFS with one that you KNOW works?

Good luck

Yes I did try 2 other MAFs that I know work. Its just dumping fuel. The manual says that the MAF signal should read 0.8 - 1.5V at idle, mine is reading 2.6V.

my car had the same symptoms, i sat there forever checking wires, then realized i had popped off a IC pipe :yum:

i dont see how a rich running engine can change your MAF reading @ idle. Maybe that's why it's running rich. The MAF is reading more air than is actually entering the motor..

its all fixed now. it was the turbo piping in the end.... it was also the intercooler that i was using. i am a mechanical designer for an automotive aftermarket parts company and i was using a sample intercooler that we received for testing.........well lets just say it failed its test.

thanks for all your guys' help
