ok guys here is the story. for the the past couple of days i have noticed my stock temp gauge is actually accurate or just messing with me. so it reads that it is over heating but once i get moving it slowly goes back down.

i popped open the hood to see what was going on and the top hose was tight ass f*&k i am not sure if its supposed to be like that. i have already bled it on a incline and all that good stuff
should i just get an aftermarket gauge?

thanks for reading

you using the stock clutch fan or electric fan?

I would deff get a aftermarket water temp gauge. But it kinda sounds like you still got a air pocket in the motor somewhere. Or your stock sender is crapping out?

I would also make sure your overflow tank is full to the top line and makes sure the hose is good. If there is a air pocket in the motor it will work its way to the overflow tank and be pushed out while then drawing in coolant to fill the air pocket that was there.

Fan type doesn't matter!!

If you have access to a temperature gun, something similar to this (HDE Temperature Gun Infrared Thermometer w/ Laser Sight- Unknown-Tools-Home Security & Safety-Alarms (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_SPM5940469308P)), use it on the upper water neck when you are "overheating".

Just be sure the car has been running a while so the water neck itself is at the same temperature as the coolant (it will be off slightly), but it will be close enough for you to tell if your gauge is accurate.

My car was reading 210* highway temps and with a temp gun like that it read 205 on the water neck..

false. he said he started moving it would go back down. its possible that if he has a clutch fan then the clutch fan is messed up and is not doing its job. hence when hes stopped the temp gauge goes up
if its an efan it might not be pulling enough air. again why the engine would heat up if he was stopped.

you could also check your thermostat as well.

like you said its a stock thermostat, try replacing it.

and disregard what i said in my last post about the e fan

I'll disregard anything you said about fans period.

I know a clutch fan can mess up but I can almost bet it's not fan related.

Most overheating issues rarely have anything to do with the FANS in 240's, and more so a bad thermostat or air pockets.

When my thermostat started going bad in my 240. I would be driving with normal temps, then all of a sudden my temp gauge would hit about the top line indicating it's extremely hot. Then a few moments late it would drop back to normal operating temp. It would do this a few times then the rest of the trip be fine. This went on for a month or two.

I didn't know what to think of it.

At the time I was running one single ten inch e fan. Well it ended up being my thermostat, and after replacing it with a Carquest OEM brand one, and that still not working. I had to buy a NEW OEM Nissan thermostat from frsport.

I ended buying a aftermarket water temp gauge to accurately monitor temps. I also bought two 12 inch e fans new rated at 2400cfm combined air flow rating.

My temps stay right at 180 at cruising speed, and rise a little when stopped at lights and what not. I have yet to have it rise over 200 or overheat.

OP, if you haven't replaced your thermostat I would advise you do that first. You can try a OEM type from the auto stores but I would suggest a OEM Nissan one.

Oh and I'm almost sure that if your top hose is tight like it has a lot of pressure on it, then that means your thermostat is not opening causing pressure to build up.

I had that same issue when I was trying to figure out my issues. Top hose would be tight as hell and then after a while it would start bubbling or boiling in the overflow tank.

Thanks a bunch man! Ill probly go with that rout then. I need to get some fans anyways hahaha

You are welcome man. I hope you get it all taken care of!!

Oh and when you install the NEW thermo. Drill a hole in it at the 3 o clock position. This will let the air get by it before it opens. Allowing for a quicker bleed of the system.
It won't hurt anything...
