i posted something a while ago about a guy ripping me off when i bought my 240...heres the deal: he says all that it needed was a head gasket, and that the car had a few dents...no biggy right.WRONG! ok, of course i asked lots of questions reguarding the car before it was purchased, like about the clutch and tranny, if there was anything else wrong with it before it was purchased. WELL WELL WELL: he fooled me. i never have been ripped off before. i bought this 95 240 for 2k. body work on it from a shop would cost about 600 w/o paint job. i am gettnig it fixed at a much lower price, but anyway....i have bought a head gasket(which that is all i "needed" to get the car running), intake manifold gasket, plenum gasket, plug wires, new head, new cams, clutch and i had a fucking busted radiator. a grand total well over 500$. luckily my friend traded me his old motor and tranny for my old motorcycle. my car has started since then. i called the guy saying if he doesnt reemburse(SP?) me with at least 500 dollars that i would most definatley take him to small claims court. i saved all my reciepts and all of the blown up parts for evidence. so he swears that he had the car running a week before i bought it, which i know is a lie, bc he had no insurance on it...the title is still a TENN. title. so i said, no there is no way, plus. the car wouldnt start when i bought it. there was no water in the car at all. everything was dried up. my mechanic was going nuts bc this guy lied to me. anyway, all of that stuff is over 500 dollars, if he deneys this situation one more time while on the phone, his ass is going to court and hes getting AN ASS WHOOPIN!!!!!
...think asking for 500 is good enough???? :axe:
also: dont be a retard like me and get ripped off!

always ask for more...but make sure your claims are justified...time and effort are worth money...loss of work due to a non running car...time, gas, food etc spent going to see car...going to talk to the guy a second time...items like these can be assessed values...
keep in mind the judge will look at all issues and assess his or her own values to things without receipts...and sometimes they will award you extra if they think you are deserving...also some things which you do have receipts for will be thrown out...just be prepared is all i'm saying...
and good luck!!!..glad you're not rolling over on this one..

good advice. i am trying to make the best of the situation...i have thought of selling it once i am finished, but i will be too proud of it to sell it, and i think it will be worth all my time and money. this guy that ripped me off, he wants to settle out of court. if we decide to do so, then i will just take the money, spend on more parts...also give this guy a bad bad name in town. i dont live where he lives but he fucked me over so i think everyone deserves to know that hes a liar and a cheater, and not to buy things from him. :fawk2:
OK 95 240sx= 2k (dont run needs body work)
Body Work= 600(no paint)
Another Motor= 400(KA24DE 60K miles)
Misc Parts= 500(The parts you have allready bought to fix it)

$3500.00
Not that I am saying the guy didnt represent it dishonestly. But If I could get into a decent 95 for 3500 even having to do some work on it I would still be pretty happy. Especialy if its an SE. I would deffinitly be upset that it was not what he described but your still not going to be bad off with the car even if you dont get a penny out of him. IMHO. Just my .02 Dont get pissed because I missed your point I'm just trying to give you something to be happy about.

yah i understand. i am happy now, with it running and all...just trying to stay positive. i am having to spend all that i have saved for a while, but it will be worth it, it is an se but i dont think it has lsd  anyway, i think the previous owner is a horrible sales person. his quote to be exact"THE CLUTCH GRABS GREAT!! I CAN CHIRP SECONDS!!!!!!!!!!" what a fag...i got it started and the clutch is a fucking monster....it growled and grinded in all gears!!! i almost puked everywhere...the sound was terrible! :barf: right now...im just focussing on the motor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!time is all i need

Yeah, I just paid $4700 for my 95 se automatic with 90K. Sure it needs a little work but to find one in wisconsin that you can go and look at before you buy is hard. Mine needs paint, all new suspension, and the interior needs a REAL GOOD cleaning and some seats. Which will be jic kit, Tein sus., Bride seats and I'm all good. Things I would do if it was perfect. I wish I could have found a S14 for 2k. I would have been all over it.

haha..that's good...boys will come and go..:p..a well built car can last you quite some time...
bread in the water...an old religious proverb...
basically says something along the lines of: "lay your bread upon the water and it will come back to you 10 fold"..
i hate religion..sorry to those who are religious here...just my personal feelings...
but i though it was mildly relevant given the situation...and i find it, in a way, to be a religious equivelant to Karma...thus putting them in the same thought...
I payed less for my 95 than I have seen one go for considering the condition. But man did I ever wait for the right one to come along (almost 3 years). Mine is an SE tinted windows and all other 95 options. They kept the oil changed and the tires rotated has 135K on the motor they did all the maitnance including new timing chain at 80K and all kinds of other stuff. I paid 4k for it and have been driving the piss out of since day one. On the other hand my 90 I paid 1k for and have put well over 4k in it just keeping it on the road! I still prefer it to my 95 because I know ever bolt on it personally(some even have names). Not really sure where I'm going with this but anyway. It will all be worth it and I would deffinetly try to get some dough from the dude but dont sweat it if you dont. Consider it educational fees. It will be worth it in the end and Everyone on here will tell you the same thing(except for those who gave up)!

heh, im not pissed off enough to give up yet, it just makes me sad that someone would rip me off...i mean i an not gullible or anything, but i didnt see it coming. im going to make this car totally worth it...definatley. the boys coming and going...dont know about this one, i have had my share, i have been with him 2 years so far and every moment has been great...hes also a 240 fanatic, he used to have a 96 se with a t3/t4 turbo...and more. but, of course, great thigns dont last forever and he was caught street racing (after i told him and left notes on his dash not to),his insurance was raised, and had to get a damn street bike, then i got my 240 and hes in love with it and wants to help me "restore" it to the best of my ability...i think this guy is sticking with me :naughty:

panda... how can you hate religion and believe in karma??? :P lol.
karma has to do with a cosmic universal...religion stops a thinking mind...
Is it just me or does 2k for a '95 (even if it needs engine work) sound extremely cheap?? I say don't go through the trouble of hiring a lawyer (who'll cost you a pretty penny) and just talk the guy out of maybe $300 and pitch in another $300 yourself.

anything that takes a leap of faith to believe in (like karma) is a religious belief... whether its mainstream or not. remember every major world religion started out as a minor or revolutionary idea back in the day. btw don't get the *actual* religion confused with the *institution* of the religion. anyway, totally off topic.
adey: 2k for a s14 shell that needs body work? sounds like a fair price to me ( actually maybe a little on the pricey side ). nowadays s13 shells in decent condition can fetch 1k or so. at least around me.

This thread is weak.
1. You got a good deal for what you bought
2. You have a running car for less than what most have paid for an s14
3. Why sue? You got a good deal!
EX. I sold a 92 Civic to a guy for $900 I disclosed all of the issues that I didn't get around to fixing and even knocked off a couple of bucks because I didn't want to screw him. Later on he calls me and gives me this line about the hubs needed to be replaced. Well no shit sherlock! It's a '92 with 247k miles on it. The thing still runs like a champ.
Moral of the story:
How can you be pissed because you got what you paid for?
Sorry for the rant I just don't understand women/men when they go into a situation blindly then get mad because someone didn't pick up the slack for them. Take responsibility for you actions!

yes, he got a great deal but that doesnt change the fact that the previous owner lied to him when he was buying the car. so did he get screwed? yes and no. if he didn't have extra money/know how or what not to fix the car and shit he would've been stuck with a big rusty paperweight. he didnt get screwed over in price but the seller was definitely trying to pull something on him. that is just plain wrong.

IM A FUCKING GIRL!!!!!!!! :bash: hehe i dont care, i mean its just a sn thing. has no boobs or balls. anyway, i talked to the guy, he is saying that he sold me that car, and is out of 1500 now, because he sold it to me. which if he wanted that money he would have told me i couldnt buy it, anyway, i am just pissed off that all that shit was messed up(the whole fucking motor) and i found an rb20det for 890 and then 250 for motor mounts. i could have bought that and forgot about the orginal motor!!!!!!!!!!!! thats why im ranting and raving about all this. and i was so mad while talking to him last night. he accused me of putting my car in first gear while towing it!!!!!!!!! im not a total retard. and that is his reason of why my clutch was bad. i mean i am really glad i know all these people that can hook me up with all of this stuff. 1k for dents out and fresh good paint. the shit for the motor was about 300 dollars and then 675. so i spent about 1G so far. THEN the guy who i bought the car from said he would have given me a free radiator and shipped it to me, and he said to call whenever i need anything. i called him a while ago and he never called me back, then when i mention court he calls back. anyway, i think hes just a big talker. i will get all this fixed, bottom line: just pissed me off!

yah good luck with ur stuff and sorry about the mistake.
btw the car should always be towed from the rear wheels i.e. backwards. a good tower will put it up by its real wheels, secure the wheels with net, lock the steering wheel and secure it with the seatbelt, in case the steering lock comes out. the fsm recommends towing with rear wheels off the ground. wasn't clear if u thats what u did, just making sure. as far as i know, in gear doesnt matter since the drive wheels are off the ground. it really isnt a good idea to tow it in neutral facing front.
Riielle
02-12-2004, 08:20 PM
shit...well, we did tow it on a little dollie(SP?) you know the ones that hold just the two wheels. anyway, the front wheels were on the dollie, while the back wheels were rolling...i didnt think that mattered?i CAN understand how, but i dont think it hurt it, we only drove about 1 1/2 hours with it like that. i knew this car was meant to be and had LOTS of hope when we got back in macon and my bf's uncle started laughing and said"ok, who took this strap off." WE RODE FROM FUCKING ATL TO MACON WITH THE STRAP NOT ON THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL!!!!!!!!!! we went over bumps, turns and all that shit! i cant believe it didn't fall off. i think johns uncle(hes never used a ratchet strap)tried to ratchet it and it just didnt work. the guy i bought the car from adjusted the other strap(the one that stayed on) so i think this car wanted to be mine! tomorrow morning im going to get my car! yay! i am so excited, the last time i drove it, i wanted to puke, but i think its ok now. ill post when i get it. lata :boink:
