I am going to be getting a 95' 240 soon and i was wondering what i should get first. I know that i need the Kaaz LSD. What after that? Suspension? i would like it lower. or should i just save for the SR20DET? Thanks.

Do the US spec cars not have an LSD? I put a zorst and induction kit on mine to start and it improved the sound and performance. I do have a UK sr20det so it my not give the same results on yours. I do know that the stock front pipe on s14s is weedy so a 75mm manifold(header) back system would work! Are you allowed to get rid of the catalyst over there? We just put ours back on for the annual emissions test? :biggrin:

it already has an lsd but it is not the best. the cataluytic converter idea is good though

It all depends on what your goals are. If you plan on doing the SR swap then don't bother getting intake or anything like that. Just get a good suspension and start saving. Thats what I'm doing, going for some coilovers, sway bars, strut tower bars. Then lighter rims/new tires and finally somewhere down the road get an SR. If you think the 240's suspension is good enough for now, just save for the SR. As for the LSD, seeing as how you already have one that works, I think the other mods would be more important things to do first.

i plan on drifting and stuff like that. Can the stock suspension take that stuff ok? I know for sure i would need sway bars and strut tower bar.

You can drift on stock suspension but not very well I dont' think. Not on dry pavement anyway...stock suspension has way too much bodyroll. Sways would help you corner flatter but I don't know how much since I haven't put mine on yet.
Just wondering, is this your first RWD car? Do you already have experiance drifting or are you going to be learning on this car? If the latter, I would suggest you don't even try drifting untill you have the car 2-3 months and get REALLY used to the way it handles. Then start out in wet parking lots with no polls, try doing figure-eights (lots of fun) then and only then move to the streets....really you shouldn't drift on public streets at all, but your going to anyway so just learn your car really well before you try it. Be prepared to replace parts of your cars body and rims and be able to afford new tires often.
I think LSD was an option on s14SE's but it could have been an option on all s14's I'm not sure. The option was packaged with ABS though so if you have ABS you (should) have LSD.

For amatuer racing purposes this should be the order you modify your car IMO;

1. Prepare the car for hard driving: replace all fluids, check belts and make sure everything is in perfect working condition.

2. Tires: they help you accelerate (assuming they are same weight as stock tires) by having the ability to put more power down, they help you corner better, and help you brake

3. Suspension: springs and shocks, you will shave the most off your lap time with these, you can also add swaybars and bushings as you go along

4. Bolt on Engine uprgrades: Power advantages in the top end which is used during competition, relatively cheap and you can do it yourself, will help moderately to little in lap times.

5. Brakes: for your newfound speed you gotta stop eventually, do this before any major power gains, there isn't anything scarier than heading into a 90 degree right hander at 80+ mph and have the pedal go to the floor (massive fade)

6. Weight reduction: removal of carpets, AC, insulation, lightweight wheels, flywheel?

7. Prepare engine for major power gains: stronger valve springs, rods, pistons, clutch, get engine blueprinted etc.
(if the car is used in serious competition, this should be done before a single lap is completed)

8. Major power gains: basically turbos and other things related to forced induction

so yeah, how's that for some real help? if you actually get through all these steps you'll have one of if not the best prepared 240 around
