Just wanted to pass this on to the 240 community:

As we all know the recent attention that the 240 has gotten recently has taken the natural evolution. In the Northern VA area there have been 3 confirmed thefts of 240s with various states of tune.

Please take precauions
1. Make sure your insurance has all of your mods
2. If you have a garage use it
3. Put alarms, autolocks, fuelcuts in
4. Keep an eye out for "cruisers" around your place

Please pass this on to as many 240 forums as you can to alert all the owners that pay for their mods

Not trying to sound negative, but I knew this day would come. Happened to all the Hondas, now the 240s. Damn theives, I hope they'll burn in hell.

yeah this is serious... old cars aren't usually stolen a lot because while they are easy to steal, they aren't worth much.. and its always hard to find a fence for the parts. But with a swapped car, they know that they can get a couple grand for the engine. fast and furious quote "a couple sr20 motors will fetch a premium..."
anyway the s13 is laughably easy to break into and pretty simple to start. So equip yourself with knowledge, don't park it in dark places, at the least get an alarm that is loud and goes off and flashes your lights when someone opens the door, and get a fuel cut off. if they can't start your car (fuel cutoff) they can't steal it. They may take your stereo but they probably aren't going to pull your engine in the parking lot of macy's.

i know 3 other Hondas that were stolen within past month i believe... Nova is probably the worst place for upgraded imports.

basicly if u have a body kit or something showy, ur car is gonna be targeted. If u have motor swaps, u will be targetted. Alarms, fuel cut switch, pedal locks, those are all great but lots of time the cars are towed some how. This is all professional work. Lowjack seems to be the only answer :-/

here in springfield there is a known gang of profesional car thieves...kinda scary

they already did a run by the campus and stole a kids rx-8, a nice camaro, and a few other nice cars...

and they still havent been caught, and i doubt they will...from what ive heard they managed to break in and steal the rx-8 within a min (there was a camera watching that lot)

:X scary. at least my car is nice and safe in a garage. the fact that it looks like a POS might help. rockin' the 4 lug. surprised they went after a rx-8. doesn't seem like a very typical car to steal.

like i said, they are pros...basically they put them in trucks and take them to mexico and ship them to other countries...i was talking to a cop and he said from the time your car is stolen (this is if they are shipping out the car) its a little less than 48 hours until its on its way in the ocean...

thats how the pros do it. amatuers steal what they can grab, receivers, radar detectors, and leave the car somewhere. most theives steal it and take the parts they can sell easily, and either destroy or ditch the chassis. the pros these days are crating up whole cars and shipping them to contries with lax import/motor registration and getting new car prices for them. its scary. I think they need to start selling those imobilizer boots that they clamp on your car for parking tickets...

That is crazy, my friend has a 1996 Eclipse GSX, with HKS Parts, and Blitz body kit, and he moved to Minneapolis, MN and within a week it was broken into. Ametures did it because they busted out the window, and "tried" stealing his Head Unit, Subs, and Turbo Timer...they "tried" by taking a screwdriver and smashing it through the console plastic they also attempted to start the car by jamming something in the ignition. It just sucks people have to steal stuff, and it sucks to put work and time and money and sweat into your car and have it messed up by some snot nosed kid or some p1mp daddy thief.

lol, you know I read in a magazine that blitz doesn't actually make body kits for the eclipse.

I wasn't ripping its just that it seems like every eclipse that I see says he has a "blitz" body kit, and some magazine editor wrote once that "shut up about your blitz body kit for your eclipse, blitz doesn't MAKE a body kit for the eclipse."

Theres tons of mexicans in Northern Virginia, go figure We have have it worse. Florida, mostly orlando, is the mother land of all mexicans, puerto ricans, domincans...you name it we got it. I'm not saying I hate mexicans. Basically as of right now, blacks, and whites are the minorites. But there's hardly any 240's around. Though I did finally see a 240, with a nice looking kit on it....ugly spoiler though. So....yea, when I do get one, I'll take this info. in consideration. Thanks.

I make it a point to look past ignorance

Hopefully the thefts will come to an end soon. If I even see someone looking at a 240 too long I just mean mug 'um and wait for them to do something stupid. Let the ass beating commence! Then call the cops.

actually mr. meph. ,its aproven fact that the mexicans in chesterfield are the leading contributor to crime. My uncle is a po-po and he talks alot about this, the problem is that they are not Illegal but they are not full citizens....aka,to the U.S. Goverment, they don't exsist. Therefore they cannot LEGALLY register a car to themselves,or buy a home...etc. etc.,and they drink alochol....ALOT....then they try to drive home and hit somebody else, their car isn't legal and they run,or stab/shoot a cop(unfortunately happens alot:(),or steal a 240sx....whatever. So hes not lying when he said that.

I am NOT anti-mexican,anti-african american ....or anybody else. I just know that it is a fact the mexicans in chesterfield county(at least there,I don't know about other places) wich is a pretty big ass county, are the leading caus of crime.

EDIT:The legitimate mexicans are GREAT I think....they always buy Nissan hardbodies, and work extremely hard for their money, and are very polite, and nice...and etc. :) ...

EDIT AGAIN:I don't want to offend anybody, just point out the facts.

All of us hispanics are not mexicans so dont generalize. Sounds very ignorant when people speak like this. Fact of the matter is NoVa probably has more salvadoreans and other central american groups. Anyway back on topic, it does suck very much but like someone else said, it seemed inevitable. Its a popular car now and thats where the thieves go to. Im alittle paranoid myself. Just the other day my bro saw some dudes drivin and "scoping" out our street in a suspicious manner, looking at the impreza and 240 parked in front of my house. I so wish i had a garage.
