Im so excited. My car is in the shop right now getting the HS headers installed. I want my car to be louder. I loved it when I was WOT after I installed my intake, and it made that growling sound under acceleration.

from ever car i've seen w/ a header on it makes the exhaust sound so much better and does make it a lil' louder.

What else are you running on in f/p,cat & exhaust department?

my car was definately louder, that is why i put back a resinator into my exhaust system.. needed to supress the low hertz produced by the exhaust system.. started to really get to my ears <not fun>.

I have a fairly quiet exhaust system.. but it can get loud when dumped..

I had borla exhaust and stillen headers and a few other mods on my 93 Z32 and it made that car sound mean as ####. Headers will add noise to your exhaust and your engine/interior compartment as its right by your floor board. Dont worry though, you should love the extra noise.

I want to add a greddy 80mm f/p and a de-cat pipe to my Hiper muffler so I can shoot flames out the back!!!!! And be louder!

I like the loud growl outside the car, and when I drive by myself.. but say when you've got a chick in the car.. It becomes a little annoying when your trying to talk.. or something.

Would putting Dyna-mat in the floor panels and or doors help???

Just the HS intake, and soon to be headers. I am planning on either the n1 or dual n1 soon.

Sykikchimp....... I put matting over the floor of my boot and it has helped. I can't really be bothered to do the rest at the moment, it takes ages to do it neatly. Anyhow, the car is quiet as a mouse compared to my old Mugen Civ*c!!!

I forget what company sells dampaning material to make the inside of your car quieter but it is out there, dynamat would be to heavy IMHO.

Am I right is saying that you guys call the bit that we call the "manifold" the "header! ? It's the 4 branch casting from the head to the f/p. If so then why upgrade the header before f/p,de-cat and exhaust? Thought you would get way more hp and sexy noise by doing this first before the header? Instant gratification!!!

Thats the header. It goes all the way to the tip of the catback exhaust, eliminating the cat. What is a f/p?

F/P=Front pipe, from turbo to cat (or de-cat pipe). Nice header btw!

I am pretty sure it is referred to as a down pipe here. Otherwise known as d/p.

Dynamat is not that heavy a door kit witch will do 2 doors only weighs 10 lbs
and you wount even use a half door kit on the floor board to cover the pipe

downpipe is for turbos. the f/p is also called the b-pipe or intermediate pipe.

we also say manifold. the stock 4-branch pipe is called the exhaust manifold, followed by the b-pipe, then the cat. Most headers replace the manifold and b-pipe at the same time, so it's one piece from the block to the cat.

in the S14's situation, there's the exhaust manifold, the cat, the b-pipe, then another cat (hollow). hotshot headers replace the cat, so a functioning cat must be installed where the hollow cat was.

I want to get some headers also, but a new version of the HS headers are coming out, this time the holes are more aligned and I think (hope) it's stainless steel. But I don't know when it's going to be released.

just an fyi, 4 cylinders have a header, headers would refer to 2 or more(like in 6 or 8 cyl.) just thought you'd like to know

so do you think dynamat would work? or does that just eliminate Vibration..

I wanna eliminate Noise..

I just had a shop install my hotshot header and i still had the stock exhaust on there. There was a definite hp increase but no sound increase with just the header and stock exhaust. Plus, there is another sensor that comes from the transmission that THERE IS NO HOLE FOR!! The shop is goin to have to burn a hole in ur header and put in the old threads from the stock exhaust inorder to put this sensor back in. I'm not sure what it does but i guess it's important.

I expect that DYNAMAT is similar to stuff we have called BROWNBREAD. It is a high density rubbery, pliable matting with a self adhesive back. I went to my local motor supplies store and got some similar matting made by a company called "Bodyline". This company make supplies for the UK auto paint sprayshop industry. It is similar to Brownbread but not so expensive. I used it to line the boot floor of my s14 as my Hiper was louder than the original system. It has reduced the noise and resonance made by by the exhaust as well as road noise but for the full benefit I will have to do the boot walls and under the rear seats.
