I'm having a problem getting my SR started. When I turn the key I hear one single click, not multiple clicks like when your battery is dead. The only sound I hear is the click, the car does not turn over at all. I have tried starting my car using a different battery and a different starter but doing so has not fixed the problem. I checked all of the grounds (intake to chassis, coil pack ground, back of the head to chassis, and the plug that plugs into the starter). I've searched and have seen others have had the same problems but they never posted the solution. Any suggestions?

check the starter relay
check how much voltage you are getting from the starter. it could have high resistance from the wire causing the starter not to get proper voltage to turn your engine over.

or possibly bad ignition switch

This happened to me, it ended up being the stupid clutch safety switch thingy that the PO poorly bypassed.

there are two relays under the dash next to the ecu on an sr, but only one on a ka. You need both of those relays to make an sr work. The one the ka doesn't have controls the ignition of the sr.

I will check that but I thought I wouldn't even get the clicking noise if that was the problem.

I thought the relay that I needed to check was on the passenger side under near the fuse box and the coolant overflow tank? I will look under the dash though, then check the ignition switch for power if everything else checks out.

here is that blurb from a swap help thread I was looking at

Another thing you will notice is that the SR20DET has two big BLUE plugs that are down by the ECU. You'll notice that your KA only had ONE Big BLUE plug. That big blue plug had a relay sitting on it... grab it. This will be for your ECCS relay. You will need to get ANOTHER ECCS relay from the junkyard or your local friendly Nissan dealership. The CAR WILL NOT START without BOTH relays hooked up. DO NOT jumper this!!! You risk damage to your harness! The second relay that you currently do not have is for your IGNITION! Without the relay you will not get any spark. Install it.

If its an s14 more than likely you've got a bad ignition switch. It's honestly the #1 problem s14 get! Take out the ignition switch (only 2 little screws) and put the key inside it and turn. If it starts up its the switch!

as you can see ive had to 'fix' this my self. i just disconnected it, cut the connector off, put in a couple female spade's and put a 25amp fuse in. problem fixed. just make sure that your in neutral whenever you start the car..lol.

I just looped the two wires underneath the clutch pedal.
Done and done.
