Hey guys, looking to get some info on this. Back story is that three weeks ago I broke my FMIC so my car sat since then. Ended up redoing my piping and getting a new FMIC which ended up being smaller than my old one.

Anyways got it running yesterday finally. Initial drive was good, parked it. Decided to go out last night so took it out again and drove for 25ish miles and parked again. When I was driving home I noticed that the turbo was louder than usual. I could hear it 'spool' but it kind of sounds like a leak. I know I have one decent exhaust leak from down pipe to cat back but as far as I know that's it.

Anyways upon some driving my turbo just was a lot louder. It made a noise and I wouldn't say that it's that dentist drill your turbo is going out sound.

Heres a link to the video, don't know how to embed on my phone via tapatalk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QM8vXsYVG44&feature=youtube_gdata_player

You can hear the turbo spooling up and it sounds much different. Also notice the sound under boost. Is my turbo going out? Or am I hopefully looking at something much smaller like a boost leak or manifold leak somewhere? When I get off of work today I'm going to go pull the intake off and check for shaft play but just wanted some insight on this.

Holds boost just fine, boosts pretty fine in my opinion, just doesn't sound like how it used to.

Your vid didn't work for me but if I had to guess I would say you are hearing it through the leak in the down pipe....I know that it you run an open down pipe pretty much all you can hear is the turbo spooling up and down...

Weird it didn't work for you, working fine on my end, can anyone else confirm?

I was thinking perhaps there was a leak at the turbo to down pipe. I have the part shop max cobra down pipe so it's all one piece. That was one of my thoughts anyways. I tried to tighten it up yesterday before driving but maybe it came loose again afterwards

video worked for me, not sure what the sound is though, I had to turn the volume up and the road noise made it hard to hear.

This happen to my car when i backed up and exhaust hit parking lot cement. My issue was it caused a boost/exhaust leak which i knew where it was. I had 3 nuts in on the turbine exhaust side. If you have a wide band see what it's reading on idle, when i was driving my car sounded like an SRT-4 and louder in boost. you will also notice a power loss difference as well. If you're wideband doesn't read on idle then check all screws and make sure everything it tighten correctly on exhaust too turbo!

My wide band sensor has died awhile back and I haven't been able to get a new one yet, maybe would make this easier.

Will check the turbine housing to down pipe. That is where I expected there to be a problem but I haven't had a good look yet.
