I recently bought a 1990 s13 silvia and it is bogging down at 4000 rpm in all gears. Ive searched google and found that it could possibly be the MAF or a clogged fuel filter or even a clogged cat. I need some help targeting the problem so I can get out and kill some porsches. please help me if you have any answers...

does it start to bog like as in it its about to die?
or does it break and kinda buck around like its trying to go but cant?
and try not to kill porches... im sure the homeowners would disapprove.

4k bog down is usually fuel, correct there. We need to know what afr it happens and is timing correct, base timing with a light. Not cas in the middle! That can be 20-30deg.
It may also be a boostleak, so get to checking, not with brake cleaner etc. pressurize intercooler pipes! Also TPS voltage could be a suspect as well. So you can see that there are many things to check and still be something else, like a leaky injector.
I know a porch you can kill! I need to rebuild it anyway, thinking... solid paneling for the floor!

Is it a ka? I had this problem with mine, the lower timing chain was a tooth off so it wouldn't time correctly. My resulting timing was either so low that it wouldn't run or so high that it would set off the knock sensor at 4k and it wouldn't rev any higher.

It's a red top sr. Thanks I'll check the timing.

Had a similar problem with my 240. My problem was a dirty MAF. You can go to Autozone and buy some MAF cleaner to see if this is your problem also. Second thing might be the EGR
