Sigh...
So, I decided to check out some Honda boards for some del Sol advice, ya know, hoping someplace out there could be cool like here. The senseless DOHC vs. SOHC bickering at one board got old, fast. Hmm, then there was another board where someone wanted "the VTEC to turn on sooner and/or stay on constantly". Groan.
But, ah, the best so far... First, a message in a thread regarding this car: http://www.hotimportnights.com/gallery....450.jpg Now, in due fairness, most users hated it, but below is just the last post I could put up with. It is quoted verbatim.
"i think it looks good!!!!!!!!!!
even better with a fat ass spoiler!!!!"
Welp, that does it. I'm a Honda kiddy now. I know who my peers are. Good-bye world of car discussion. Maybe I'll have to spend time at the office doing work now.

Poor guy maybe somewhere out there is a Honda underground. Actually devoted drivers who don't beleive vinyl stickers and huge wings are basic modifications all cars should have. Maybe they need you to lead them. I say start your own site with a quality forum, show them the light.
A friend of mine asked me a question one time I thought was pretty funny. He asked "What would happen if you got a honda and put a turbo on it and a good suspension and really built it up to be fast but never put a wing, body kit or stickers on it? Would you be an outcast on honda boards for not haveing those essential 'rice' components and an outcast on other serious car boards for driving a honda?" I just shrugged and said probably...
Edit: incase that came out wrong, I'm not saying jeff is an outcast on our "serious" car fourm. Just want to clear that up before anybody says anything.

maybe you should join the honda board that respects 240sx's. anyone remember that link? where like 3 people said the 240sx might win the race?

one of my good friends at work has a Civic Si, nice car, better person, it seems to me that there are very knowledgeable respectable people in the honda world, but they don't seem to make themselves too vocal, they try and lay low to kinda "fly in under the ricer(i hate using that term) radar"
if you want to find respectable honda people, check the autocross circuit, and other non-dragstrip race venues, that's where you'll find the best cars and the best people

I used to frequent honda-tech.com. You get lots of great non-rice information from the Integra Type R forums about suspension and driving techniques. Some of the guys at honda-tech.com are JDM Nazis however. According to some of them, if it ain't JDM, it probably sucks.

the honda guys are so used to defending their rides when theyre called rice or what not its in they're nature to fight even with fellow honda owners, 240 owners on the other hand, more classy LoL for the most part

you'd be stuck in the middle. a loner, a drifter...
in the summer i was helping my dad deliver packages (FedEx) and he walked in a big building to deliver a small package so i had time to waste. i look over and see a lowered red integra, i thought whooaa tough guy, and i saw white, but not flashy rims, i thought ya this guy probably thinks he's cool. still had time to waste so i actually jumped out of the truck and walked around the car, he had a big muffler but not a flashy one, and no clear lenses!, looked at the dash he had the gauge pods. i though wow. big deal. well he's not ricey i guess. i jump back in the truck. still no sign of my dad. i look at the front of the car, and see an over sized 'radiator'. i get out of the truck once again, and check it out. it's a big ass intercooler. now i'm thinking. ehhh hehehe. good thing i didn't run into this guy on the street and assume him another honda/acura boy. (whew) this story had no point, but what your friend said about real honda tuners being outcasts made me think of that red integra.
