amsoil is best for the trans IMO, i got royal purple trans fluid from oreillys and it ruined my 2nd gear synchro, turns out they only sell a gl5 fluid at my local auto parts stores so look out for those, be sure to get only a gl4 for the trans.

Mobil 1, ENEOS, and redline is all my sr/trans has seen.
Edit: In my high mileage ka i usually just put what the fuck ever in lol. It burned it anyways. High mileage formulas would be your best bet tho

the brown bear is best.
i use Mobil 1 full syn, besides being great it's economical and readily available.
go to bobistheoilguy.com and do some reading for yourself to determine which oil is "better." rather than just other's opinions. there is a lot of oil analysis on that site that'll help determine decision

Get your transmission oil from nissan. It will be cheaper than any "high branded" oil and chances are it will also be better (you need gl4, most oils are gl5 now)

I've used nothing but Mobile1 full synthetic, keep in mind though it takes about 3 oil changes to flush out the old oil out completely if your switching to synth

I use Bardahl XTR C60 39.67 10W-60
For racing oils you should always check Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt, this will let you know the true viscosity of your engine oil. 10w-60 means classification and quality, not viscosity
Engine oil Vis @ 100°C, cSt
Redline 10w60 25,5
Miller CFS 10w60 NT 24.4
Liqui Moly 10w60 24
Bardahl XTR C60 23.28
Castrol Edge 10w-60 22.7
Mobil 1 10w-60 22.7
There are about a million other things that are important too, but you won't find them on datasheet since they are manufacturer's sales points and company secrets

agreed

That is completely wrong though.
10w60 means the oil fits in the 10 SAE viscosity range when cold, and goes to the 60SAE viscosity range when hot.
It is true that it is a range, but still ... it has nothing to do with quality.
Besides, a 10w60 oil is likely to wear off very fast .
What really is important is to get the proper oil for your engine usage and the weather where it is used.
That means having a good condition oil pump, reading workshop manual, and checking your oil pressure VS recommanded oil pressure.
A 10w60 oil in an engine developped for a 10w40 oil is USELESS. It will just starve your engine from oil (more pressure = less flow), unless you are running very high oil temps (which would actually be a consequence of a bad flow), or unless you grind bigger tolerances on all bearings (which you usually dont).
Basically, if you need 10w60 on an SR20det, a CA18det, a KA or a KA-T to get the recommended pressure, you are doing it wrong, your oil pump is worn and / or you have oil cooling problems ( again this is a consequence of poor oil flow ).
I learned that the hard way, changed my oil pump and voila ! 10w50 oil used now, lasts 4 times longer and is cheaper, and even on hot track days i dont go over 110°C.

It is not completely wrong, it is for classification (standards) and quality too, an oil that doesn't meet API/SAE/CMCC etc standards will not also recieve SAE classification.
I too learned the hard way on my CA to use correct oil.
What oil do you use in your car since you are on the same continent as me which is unusual on this forum.

Mobil 1 or Amsoil, royal purple is trash. I used redline gear oil in my tranny.
Purulator pure 1 oil filters as well.

It is not possible to answer this question. All you're going to get is opinions. Realistically 99% of synthetic oils will work out perfectly. Diesel oil is also not a bad idea for higher mileage engines. Diesel oil has a lot of cleaning additives and friction modifiers that used to be in conventional oils, but have been phased out over the years for various reasons. Diesel oil would DEFINITELY be the reccomended engine break-in oil BTW. The main thing that you're going to be concerned about is the API service designation. I have found that the cheap oils usually have the same API number as the more expensive oils. That means that the base-oil being used is basically the same. The only difference would be the additive package in the oil. I would make an educated guess that if you really broke down the additives in most oils they would be EXTREMELY similar. You might find a couple that would have some sort of small advantage, but it wouldn't be much. I would suggest you spend your time thinking about much more important things than which engine oil you're going to use. It really makes no measureable difference...
