I Originially thought of making a 3" test pipe to replace the stock S14 dummy cat - and have 3" all the way back. (finally) but recently I found a place selling 3" x 8" flex pipes for $33.

So for a first official welding project, im planning on completely eliminating the midsection pipe. extending my 3" downpipe the proper length, and intergrating the flexpipe at some point. Could anyone give me any tips or perhaps setups they have seen.
Im assuming closer to the manifold the better, but then perhaps I should have some distance. Or should I go ahead and keep a midsection pipe, but simply replace it with a 3" flex pipe w/ the proper lenght.
Im not planning on having the option to add a CAT (midsection) anymore
