i'm going to get my 240sx on wednesday...
it has an SE emblem on the rear, i was wondering if it's an actual SE..
also,it has a stock spoiler on it.
i looked at the rims, but did not check to see if they were 5 lug, the stock rims had the cap to cover the lug nuts.
so i'm not sure if it's an actual SE or not... i looked on google to find pics of SE's and i found these rims:

http://importnut.net/240pics/30mmupgrade05.JPG

you can tell they are 5 lug from an 96 SE

now the car i'm looking at has different style rims...the rims look exactly like these (took pic from nico forum)

attatched is a pic of the car im buying. and yes i tried to search, but SE was less than 3 letters so it did no good.
thanks for the reply's

so if it has sway bars, that means its an SE?

non-se s14's did not have a rear sway bar stock. I think those are base wheels too. a friend had them on his base s14, i dono if they came on se's or not.

What you should do is get the VIN and run it through carfax, then you'll know for sure.

Base S14's only came in 4 lug. Make the connection...

Friend's base S14 + wheels = BASE MODEL.

Why would an SE come without 5 lug? That practically destroys the purpose of owning a SE.

I also think the seats of a base model were all grey instead of having an insert in the center. But the real way to find out is to get the VIN and go to www.carfax.com they should at least tell you the year, make, model and trim for free.

It might say SE/LE though instead of just having them seperately.

why would someone go through the trouble of putting an SE emblem on that car? I mean SE's arn't THAT much better than the stock models. o well..

Why do people put Type R badges on Hondas lol, I know a real type R is better than an Base/SE comparison, but I have also seen some people with the GTR emblem. Like there was an old school Sentra "GTR" with sweet add-on's in town here for a while.

why didn't you just pop the cover off the wheels?..would take 2 secs and save allllll this...

thinking....one of the most underrated activities in this world...

The vin wont tell you if its an SE iirc, Thats a Base. BUT didnt Canada call base models SE's? and SE's LE's? Either way, Thats a Base Model, biggest give away are the 4 lug wheels.

That looks like an LE. LE is like a base model but with 4 Lug alloys (altima rims) and a few se trimmings (central locking, cruise control, sunroof, etc) I don't know the specific packages. Mine is a base with the 5 lug conversion and a few se trinkets

I had a 93 FB...complete base model and it came back as an SE. Sooo just because car fax/dmv files say it is an SE dosn't mean they are 100% correct...

i don't know why the attachment isn't showing up...
but just to clear things up, those 2 pics above are not my car...
i'll try attaching it agian. this is the car i'm buying and it has the same rims as the second pic.
and i didn't check the lug nuts because i was looking through the engine compartment and checking out to see if all the lights worked and then i asked the owner if it was 5 lug and he said he doesn't know kuz he never checked it... so as soon as he said that he said lets go for a test drive and we took off...

i guess i only wanted to know if it was an SE because SE's are supposed to come w/ 5 lug, and i'd want to do the z32 brake upgrade which would be easier on a 5 lug already. anyway, thanks for the replies (the one's that actually helped me)

EDIT: dammit i don't know why the attachment doesn't work
