I have a 1995 240sx SE, and the check engine light recently came on. I took it to Autozone to get the OBD read, and the plug fit and it gave me two errors. I was like ok, I'll fix them next weekend.
I went back to Autozone, and there was a new guy there, but when I asked him to read it again (just to make sure the first guy read it correctly), he said 1995 and below don't have OBDII, so he couldn't read it for me.
I was like wtf and walked out.
How do I check why the light is on? Would I have to go to a Nissan Dealership and ask them to read it for me, or what?
Thanks.

tell him that some models older than 96 are OBDII and have him read it.

the later in 1995 the car was made, the higher the chance the car is OBDII (from what ive read, nissan switched from OBDI to OBDII mid-production year with the 1995 model year)
sorry, i cant give you something definite. try searching for that and im sure something will pop up.

Let me point you towards the answer I received in this thread. Hopefully it will be of help.

My car is a 95 and I have the OBDII plug... But I heard that OBDII have the 3 wire? O2's that are 5volts. My car has 1 wire 1 volt O2's
My car does however put out Error codes in OBDII form...
So I think its OBDI
Btw my car was built in 94 but its a 95

all 240 o2 sensors are 1 volt. the 5 volt are only on some brand new cars. To make sure if your car is OBDII, all you have to do is look at you emissions label under the hood and it should say "OBDII certified" somewhere in the label
Also if it has a 16-pin connector that the OBDII sacnner fits on, it's OBDII.

Hmm.. I saw the 1 volt...
Well one of the differances in cars is the 96 has 3 wire O2's and 95's are 1 wire O2's...
I'll check the emmisions lable under the hood when I get home...

I have no label for OBDII but have the 16pin connector. I think that Nissan startred to implement OBDII this year, but only got so far as to having it spit out codes, not actually control things.
