mai differntial says 0203102 nd also anothe rpart says kn 21 but does anyone know if that is a open diff or is that a vlsd??? thanks

s13 open diffs have fins on the cover plate, but not as many as vlsd covers. Sykikchimp i believe it was just had a large post on hlsd not to long ago.

I jacked my buddies 91 s13 in the air today, We spun the driverside tire with it in nutural and only the driverside spun. I then put it in first and spun the driverside again and the passanger side spun in the opposite direction. It does have heatsinks on the back but only about five of them. Any imput on if this is an open or lsd would help. thanks

thats open diff mr. spool. no doubt about that

only HICAS fastback 91+ were POSITIVELY vlsd
everything else was mostly open diff.
unless canada more chance to be vlsd but not all are.

all 89-90 were open diff.

Thats to bad, it feels different than the open differntial s13 that I have, And s14. so basically all open difs, when in gear, both tires will spin when in gear, but only the locking difs will spin when in nutural.

by the way i hav a s14, in air if i put it in first gear it both moves forward, but if i move juss one side the other side moves backwards. so i dont know if wat muzzy said about not having heat sink then i dont hav vlsd is true or not. i mean i dont know wats supposed to happen, wen i do a burn out both of mai tires leaves marks. one is lighter then the other thow. but wen i turn nd do a burn out only one side will smoke. also wen japboy on this forum tryed to do donuts with mai car it ddnt work cuz like i said earlyer one side only spins. and also i read up on Sykikchimp's thing on hlsd. thats were i got the idea of the hlsd. just i found a hlsd but no outer shell, so i dont know if that will fit in a s14 diff housing

1st one is a 91 HICAS model LSD
2nd is a 91 VLSD from a 300zx (just recently pikced that up)

dang those are crazy picture quality. haha. but yeah i dont have the heat sink on mine. you jacked ur car up from the bar near the diffs right. is that the right spot. i used to juss jack the back up from the diffs cuz the frame on my back side bent a little wen i tryed to jack it from the frame in the back. and i dont know how to jack the front up so juss used the frame on the front. the only reason i jacked it from the frame is cuz i used to work on my dads mustang 65 and the frame is alwasy were i jacked it up and ddnt bend. and so i thought thats were im supposed to jack the car up on my 240 but i guess i was wrong.
