Is it possible to spin a water pump to fast?
I have a KA24DE in a Datsun 510 and I have now killed 2 autozone water pumps they start screeching loud then the bottom weep hole starts leaking after about 40 or so miles of driving.
I have the Single cam pulley setup on the motor using the upper and lower alternator brackets single cam thermostat housing and the single cam water pump pulley they are all connected with 1 35inch belt.

Dude, even the GMB from Thailand works better than autozone. I do not know how is autozone's supplier, but you're better off with OEM with the amount of labor you put into in and radiator fluids gone.

Why are you running such a strange belt setup?

Atleast get NAPA/Carquest parts...close enough to OEM specs.

I put on another Autozone pump from the warranty and it failed again 50 miles this time lol.
I know they may suck but shouldn't i get like 5,000 miles out of it before failing?
Im going to get a Nissan one but it will take 3 days for delivery and i need to drive the car.
Is there a max amount the water pump can spin?
My belt setup is strange because the ac compressor and the power steering pump don't fit well in a 1968 Datsun 510.

Only choice I had two years ago was from autozone and it's still working fine.

Anyone know if the Gates pump on FRSport is any good?
I'll probablt get the OEM pump for peace of mind, unless they turn out to be virtually identical.

What about in relation to an OEM pump?

I strongly reccomend Napa or OEM... :) either both work flawless :)

maybe your belt tension is too tight, causing bearing failure. also, are you using coolant with water or just straight water. coolant has water pump bearing lubricant in it.

Yup that's what I am guessing as well.
