Overpriced I agree, but I love the way it looks. Definitely seems like it will be a fun car to drive.

i saw one on the road last week. it had a dealer plate on it. it seems a little wider than i thought. i like it, but i hate the idea of all the douchbags whom are going to buy it and act cool in it, but dont really know what it is, and what it stands for...

Lol... Nope.

I'd much rather buy a used 370Z or 2013+ Genesis Coupe 2.0T If I were looking to spend in the range of $25k+.

Looks good. I hope the new owners enjoy them. Its good that there are more options for RWD coupe shoppers now with Subaru, Toyota and Hyundai adding to the Camaro , Z, and Mustang.

took this thing out for a spin, its powerless obviously. no top or lower end power. just feels dull... maybe its because I'm driving sti and Evos all day long..

but the handling, suspension on this thing is phenomenal. turning radius is ridiculous. feels solid as fuaaarrkk.

this specific unit is going to our subaru trainer, he's going to drive it for around 10k miles and tear it up apart and use it as a tool to train technicians.

it looks alright. but the selling point on the WRX/Sti for me was that they're sedans. if i wanted a coupe i'd get a Z or mustang and put some nice parts on it for that price.

which was the purpose of the car all along...a good handling fun to drive car. not an evo/sti killer. why woukd subaru make a car that would take sales away from the sti :loco:

I dont believe dealership dweebs to know whats going on in the development factory in japan. There is rumor of it going STI turbo perhaps.

Cool car tho, i think the thing with the price is getting the experience of buying a brand new car.. Give them a year or 2 and hopefully the new car price goes down a bit.

Early-adopters will have a choice of two models of Subaru BRZ. The range kicks-off with the 2.0i SE, at £24,995 with the standard six-speed manual transmission. That's 40K USD!

all the US allocations are spoken for, don't really think 'douchebags' that don't know what the car stands for would drop cash sight unseen on a car.

Because any car person with the slightest interest, myself included, would have seen better quality pictures in auto blogs or the various forums that have popped around these cars in the last few years.

You're not breaking any new information car people don't already have.
You're just belittling a product the company you represent is selling... by the way, how would your dealer manager would feel about if he happened to see this thread?

so sharing info is now an obsession? dood just seems well informed...a car guy talking about a car lol? btw not mad so dont come bashing.

Not hating just pointing out pointless thread; this 'information' isn't news.
We already have threads here where this could have fitted in as a single post.

On another note, I like the car but the price seems to be high.
Looking forward to test driving it.

That's 40K USD!

Conversion rates are different. Cars there always cost more.

Anybody that buys a car right out of the dealer lot when it just comes out, deserves to get raped on the price. In a couple of years, you will be able to buy the car, brand new for a few over invoice, if you know how to haggle with a dealer.

I personally love what this car is. If I wanted to buy right off the floor I would, but I don't buy cars new because once they leave the show room floor, they drop in value. It is not an investment.

It just takes a looong time for a car to be an investment. I mean my great grandpa bought a 1970 plymouth roadrunner for a few thousand brand new. Look what they go for now...... Cars are funny, but CAN be an investment. Even if you buy used....your still losing money. I prefer to buy brand new, that way i know what exactly is going on with the car. Buying used is like banging a girl after your buddy just left room.

the 29k price seems a bit off.
Are there added options and dealer markups?
I thought the msrp would be around 25-26k.
Id like to know the breakdown.

Honestly I wouldn't bother with the BRZ for the very same reason I wouldnt get a new Miata.
Its challenging for me to spend another 15-20k over a good used older Miata (or even Mazdaspeed Miata)

LOL @ CANADIANS and what you all pay for cars.

Why does anyone buy a new car in Canada? I'm surprised every Grandma doesn't just buy a BNR32. New cars are preposterously expensive given the value of your currency.

ManoNegra
05-15-2012, 12:39 PM
BRZ was intended to have better amenities and it would be reflected on the price
add more $$ for automatic trans and your get 29k

want the car and save several thousands? look at Scion.

A basic RWD coupe without boost, AWD, or at least an Inline 6 for $29k? I will wait until the hype dies down and pick one up in a few years for $18k with 20k miles.

But!..I do think it's a great looking car, has great potential, and will have a huge aftermarket support.

correctomundo-scion's supposed to be the "cheaper" version of the ft-86. how much cheaper? i haven't looked toyobaru much lately but i want to say around 25kish?

speaking of toyobaru, found a link to this article regarding a turbo variant of the fa motor.

FR-S will be ~$24.5k in the US, methinks.

BRZ is also shown in Canada Dorrarz, so it's higher than it would be here. $29k would be one loaded-up BRZ in the States, AFAIK.

My gf just picked up a 2012 Impreza, so naturally, I was interested in the BRZ. Found out the price and said uhhhh, I'll just go look at the FRS. Got one coming next month to test drive. 6 spd manual, will post up next month and let everyone know how it drives. My daily is a 1987 AE86 coupe, so the non turbo lack of power issues shouldn't bother me. lol
