I though I post about this. I have a 95 240sx. I wanted the Ws coilovers but got cheap and bought the Koni yellows. Now I found out after install the Koni with springs will run me as much the apexi Ws. Now I want springs to go with the Koni's. Any suggestions H&R, HKS, Pro-kit? I read old posts but still feel the need to make sure about this. I want a good drop and best performance possible. Do the Ws need upper mount to go in the car? Just thought I ask?

If you're willing to spend the extra money for camber plates (and adjustable control arm or whatever it is for the rear) to correct the allignment after a significant drop, Eibach Sportlines will drop the car about 2 inches. H&R also make excellent springs that will do about the same. Both are progressively wound which you will want unless it is strictly for track purposes. I've also heard of a brand from japan that is progressively wound and has a stiffer rate than either Eibach of H&R, can't remember the name though. If you don't want to mess around with allignment issues, get Eibach Pro-Kit, only springs i'm aware of that don't require any more than a usual tire shop allignment. I have the pro-kit and am happy with them. You're off to a good start with Koni shocks, they should be fine with any spring you get.

I can only tell you that I love my H$R springs!! They are stiff but still able to handle the potholes of the northern roads. !

ha ha - after the autox topic, I knew this thread would be opened Honestly, I think untill you use your car for regular off road events, a progressive spring and adjustable shock combo is the best option in performance and looks.
I'd recommend Eibach Pro Kits or kg/mm DR21 springs (the brand is kg/mm). The kg/mm's are about 2x as stiff as the Eibach's, but are still progressive and are said to offer excellent driving feel both on the streets and in autox. Ditto the Pro Kits, but w/ a bit less stiffness which means more street comfort, but a slightly less sporty feel (although I've not heard any complaints about them for occasional track use). In either case, if your car is 80% or more used for street, coilovers are a waste of money, a major discomfort, and a hella PITA if one leaks on you. The Koni's offer great performance w/ either of these choices (few other shocks could stand up to the kg/mm's) and are the only USDM s14 shocks to offer enough valving to run well w/ lowering springs.
About the Sportlines - I've heard numerous complaints about the drop relative to the rate. The rate on the SL's is too low for the extra .5" over the Pro-Kits. The result is that they bottom out the struts under agressive driving. I know Takumi has complained about this and I believe that uuninja has HTS short-stroke dampers to go w/ his.

What are kg/mm DR21 springs were can I get them? Any site to them. Yeah maybe the Coilsovers are over kill. Just wanted really good handling. Hmmm. Okay I'll keep the the konis now to find out more about this DR21. I wanted the most sporty feel I can get. (skrew street comfort). It can't be any worst them my shocks I have now. .

Well KG/mm are pretty awesome springs you can get them at shinkai racing in New Jersey. www.shinkairacing.com there are consider to be one of the new hot setups in Japan with tokico HTS short stroke adjustable shocks. I was going to get them but I got a deal on some HKS Super sports so I am just getting the HTS's . Later on I may go coilover.
Happy New Year

The drop for the springs is about 1.25 to 1.5. I like them cause they're not too slammed and I don't always have to worry about scraping the front lip. You're eventually going to have to get some good shocks tho. That's what I'm trying to save up for. How much did you get your N1 for? I'm not sure if I should go custom or not.

When you get everything installed we can do another round of karting.... maybe you'll be able to keep up with me
I was leaning towards getting a stiffer suspension, but the Sportlines are stiff enough for me as it is with GR2's. With Koni's up front and whatever I get for the rear, it should be all set to not bottom out. As it is, I feel every little bump in the road... every dip, rut, crack.... pillow ball mounts will just increase this. Those KG/MM springs will make your car feel like a frickin go-kart so far though, going to low profile, stickier tires has made the biggest difference. Eventually though... a good set of JIC coilovers..... twice as stiff as the sportlines (and then I'll REALLY complain on my backroads)
My set up as it is: Khumo Ecsta Supra 225/45/17 (i think), Eibach Sportlines (which I wish were slightly stiffer sometimes, and glad aren't so stiff on some back roads), KYB GR2's. The Koni's are at my apt, and I need rear shocks and swaybars. Anyone know a good place to get (externally) adjustable rear shocks for the S14??

jyt747 Well I been running stock since 08/01. So I been planning this for a long time. I like doing things in bulks. I wonder what if I should think about getting pillow ball mounts or not? I might do the SR before I do low profile tires. How much of a difference do tires make anyway . Next time ace give ride in you're car I want to know how much of a difference do tires make. I think the HTS short-stroke dampers or the only other adjustable shocks for the s14 in the US. You can get them in http://www.shinkairacing.com . Not sure if the rear are externally adjustable.

#### yeah... this whole month i have nothin to do.... wanna go race again?? I wanna try and beat that track record
If you want you can drive my car around (if there are better roads than the one going to F1BOSTON). In the meantime I'm going to attempt to fix my rear swaybar and put it on, and possibly even install the Koni's.
For rear shocks, I think I'm gonna get GAB Super HP's if they still exist.
Tires make a big diff, especially with compound and sidewall strength. With low profile tires, there is obviously less flex.... it's very noticeable compared to the stock wheels. Dude... try mine!!!

Unless you can get Ground Control to make stuff for the s14 and then get custom spring rates.
