some say take it easy for the first 500 miles. think of it this way, in a brand new turbocharged car, you would take it easy driving the car around for about the first 500-1500 miles. do the same for the turbo rebuild and you should be fine. and by easy, i mean, stay off the full boost unless you absolutely HAVE to accelerate (i.e. merging into traffic).

i am not sure what possible difference that could make....these things spin at 90k+ rpm...how can taking it easy have any effect on them? they are governed by the wastegate....

every turbo rebuild i get done i let the engine warm up and thats it....thats the break in...

adam - think of it this way... besides frustrating the ish out of you what could it hurt? :) 500 miles is a little piece of mind for fun down the road

on a normal sleeve bearing turbo there isn't a real break-in period. the bearings float on oil and shouldn't make contact so just make sure you prime the turbo oil really well and you'll be set.

i think it means crank the car with the fuel relay(or MFI fuse not sure)diconnected so it doesnt start..this makes sure there is plenty of oil in the turbo and the bearings are wet before you start the car for the first time.

where did you get your turbo rebuilt, and how much. I have tons of shaft play, and the fins are bent
