Fyi if you do buy the Pokemon games the battery in them should be about ready to die. Meaning no way to save your progress. So might want to buy new batteries for the games as well

I FOUNDDDDDDD ITTT!!!! i final bought the pokemon yellow and game boy color MUHAHAHA
My child hood is about to come back lol, time to spend countless hours in the toilet and in class playing it under the table lol and the emulator is not good enough lol, the pokemon yellow only cost $10 because the cover was off and i bought the game boy color with the power plug for $20 so i only use about $30 bucks. lol

I just beat the game lol

I downloaded "visualboyadvance" and the pokemon yellow program for it.

Cool thing with this is you can fast forward the game by pressing spacebar so when you wanna level up your L.3 caterpie by defeating a kakuna that hardens the shit out of himself you can do this in about 5 sec rather than 5 minutes lol

I have both red and blue for my gameboy color. It I had like 90 hours on pokemon red, but I actually got all 150.

As for buying old games and stuff, I've had good luck on amazon.com.

For those of you who don't want to mess with emulators, playR - Free old school flash gaming action online! (http://www.playr.org/games) has most of the pokemon series in flash.

I haven't played Pokemon in like a decade but the game is actually pretty complicated for a kids game. All this crap about breeding, inheriting moves, egg groups, and stuff.

I've never played a Pokemon game. Don't own a handheld anymore either.

I'd buy a Dsi or something but I'd spend way too much time on it.

LOL how did OP not just go on eBay and buy a copy for like $6 or something.

I own way too much of this shit. I don't much like emulators, I prefer to play on the original hardware whenever possible. Only exceptions are N64 and PSX emulators, where you can make everything look infinitely better than it would on console. 1600x1200 with full AA and 60fps makes Mario 64 look pretty terrific.

I especially like handhelds for some reason, I've got like ~35 boxed Game Boys and then a few other things. Still looking for the White Game Gear.

Holyshit! wwhere did you get gameboy light from?

Okinawandrifter87
05-09-2012, 02:33 PM
If I remember correct it is a Japan release only. Didnt fare too well due to the fact of.... I cant remember.. I just read it somewhere.. I believe they wanted to focus on the Game boy color if that gameboy light was not a color version..

I have a couple GB Lights, this one and a clear Famitsu edition.

Gold one was eBay, got the other one in a trade (for a Hanshin Tigers Neo Geo Pocket Color).

GBL is fantastic for original GB games, way superior to playing them on a GBC when it's dark. I've been working my way back through Link's Awakening on my GBL at home after work, an hour at a time. Brilliant game.

^^ those GBL do they play american games fine? I wanted to get one of those but wasnt sure if I popped in Link's Awakening or any other game like Dragon Warrior etc if they would work.

All Game Boys are region free.

I think the DSi was the first region-encoded Nintendo handheld.

A normal Silver/Gold GBL on eBay, boxed, will set you back $75-150. For awhile someone was dumping them en masse for like $50 BIN, which is when I scooped mine. The Famitsu is probably worth $250.

I'm still looking for the Astro Boy one, but those are really spendy, $250-500 boxed..and there are two of them (red/clear)

EDIT: Didn't even know this existed, Pokemon Center version. $400 not boxed though, which is crazy.

is that hours? haha, with the one emulator the one guy posted you hit space and it speeds up the game by 10000%. so i did alot of moving around like that and probably racked up the time. Just got that MewTwo boy also haha. I probably have about 7-8 hours real time into it.

Got what I thought was a mint/perfect boxed Green Version, at first glance, in a big mixed lot I bought a few months ago, until I took a closer look at it.

Some kind of Chinese copy. Next to a legit JPN Silver Version to illustrate differences.

"Game Black", "Super Game", etc.

You'd think I'd be disappointed, but usually Chinese GB copies are just sold loose and I thought it was sort of interesting to find such an accurate looking boxed one.

Downloaded crystal earlier for my Galaxy nexus

I've got some app on my Galaxy II S, Mobile Boy or somesuch, but I've never used it. I like my original hardware.

I carry a bag everywhere for work, so it's nothing for me to throw one of the portables in it.

Lately it's been a Neo Geo Pocket Color though.
