is there any of you guy's out there who has experience with doing an sr20det swap on a s14 equipped with abs? i was looking online and reading on websites and read that abs equipped cars are harder to do the swap on.
i plan on doing the swap myself when i get my 240/motor etc, and the car i'm looking at this weekend is a 95 w/ abs/vlsd etc.
for the guy's who have experience w/ motor swaps, how much harder is it to perform the the swap? is there anything i should keep in mind while doing the swap?
also, when i was searching around, i noticed that most A/C lines have to be customized in order to work (found pics at phase2motortrend.com)
would an individual like myself be able to go around customizing a/c lines for A/C to work?
thanks for all reply's.

i did my swap on my 91 HICAS. its not any harder if you just don't wire up the ABS. from what i know you have to take all the ABS wiring from your KA harness and use it. but i really didn't care about having the ABS so i just let it be.

damn.... i forgot about the different harnesses...
would i have to splice into the SR harness?

Remove ABS portion from old harness. Install into vehicle. Install SR harness. Drive car.

ummm thanks...
but by "portion" you mean a bunch of wires? how do i connect these wires to my SR harness and ECU for that matter?

First off, learn how the ABS works. The ECU does not control or interface with the ABS at all, period. You're not going to connect anything to harness or ECU.
Take the KA harness out and unwrap, remove the ABS portion (a bunch of wires, clear intelligence there) and build a subharness out of it (wrap it with tape). Install it the same way it came out. Now install the engine harness. What part of that is so fuckng hard to understand?

ok, i seemed to have asked to many questions without knowing what my problem was. i have a s13 and not a s14. I am swapping a blacktop sr20det into my 1993 automatic s13 and I am trying to keep abs. so... R240NA said that i should just open up my KA ECU harness and remove the ABS portion from it. I have been studying the harness all day and can't figure out how it connects to ABS. In fact i don't think its part of the harness at all. when i removed my harness from the passenger footwell, there were three plugs. one was the ECU main plug (large blue one), a white plug with a bunch of foam crap on it, and a thin but 1 1/2 inch wide brown plug. What do the white and brown plugs do? does one of them interface with ABS perhaps. The brown plug is after the blue main plug but connects directly to it. kinda like this:
harness from firewall========|white|======|||blue|||=======|bro wn|
anyone know whats what?
thanks
