So I just got my car back and like any other person I had to test the car out. As I was testing out the car it pulled hard and everything but then started to bog and as soon as I came to a stop it turned off... At first I thought it was a gas issue.... Went to fill up and the car starts but won't go passed 4000rpm's...

Problems I'm having:

1. Car starts and idles very poorly and dies...?

2. When on I step on the gas a bit and it puffs out black smoke...?

3. Again all this happened after I took the car out for a drive.

Problems I think it might be but not to sure:

1. MAFS wires might of melted together(highly doubted)

2. Spark Plugs

3. Vacuum leak

4. Head gasket might be blown...:/

Please if you guys know anything that can help me out let me know PLEASE.... I will be highly appreciated.
Hope to get this car back on the road very soon... Your help is very much needed.

Thanks,
Conan B.

Black smoke=running rich. Do a boost/vacuum leak test.

I'll try that... I'm just very new to the RB26 swap. Had SR'S but it just worries me because the swap alone was very expensive:/.

So check the boost or vacuum leak? I did know that my mechanic did say it had a slight exhaust manifold leak... But would that cause it to start and then die??

what was the problem? I have a rb26dett with everything stock and i'm experiencing very low idle (450-500rpm) excessive black smoke, plugs fouling...

For me it was the t clamp on my intercooler. You might want to check any clamps, hoses, or vacuum leaks by the turbo... Let me know how that goes...

okay so the car is over at my electrician, got him to check for vacuum leaks and he found none (so he says), here's what exactly happens with the engine: when we put new plugs in the engine idles nice and smooth until it is revved, when it is revved the idle drops to 450-500 rpm, misfires and lots of black smoke, pulled the plugs and the # 3 & 4 plugs are wet...we've checked afm, igniter, coil pks, cas, checked for faulty wiring....not sure what the problem could be but we're looking into the injectors.....any help would be greatly appreciated

ok...this is what I found...when I block either of the airflows the idle picks up really nice...no vacuum leaks were found....what would cause this problem? faulty ecu? or faulty airflows? not sure of what would cause this strange phenom lol
