ok im in the market to buy some seats so that i dont roll around in the stock ones i have on my 91' 240sx. what type of seats could you guys recommend for drifters.?? price does kinda matter so prices would help alot too. thx

It depends on what you want and how much you're willing to spend? Do you want a fixed position seat or a reclineable? Do you want just a driver seat or both? Once you figure those out, we'll be able to help you better.

Just keep this in mind, you get what you pay for.

I'm a smaller guy (5'10' 150 lbs.) and i personally like the Bride Brix and Ergo and the Recaro SRD or Speed (the SRDs replacement).

I know. I saw them, and shat my pants. What's bad is that they don't even try to say "NISMO style" in their description. Your led to assume they're NISMO. My buddy has a speed, and I've sat in a Sprint in a 240 with the sparco rails. The seat actually sits just a tad lower. I was amazed. The only thing that bothered me about it was that the seat sticks out where your legs rest, and it pushes your legs up a but. I hope that made sense. If I could afford a Bride seat, (Zeta) I would love to have one of those. I sat in one, and those are the bomb. I'm 5'10" 165lbs, 34" pants size. Fit perfect.

i'm 5'10 or so and 150lbs...Brix is a very nice fit...Dousan and DoriftoSlut who also have them are similar in stature and they seem to fit them well also...Dorifto is a good couple inches taller...

so i think the only thing to worry about with BRides are your wideness...i would def say not reco'd for the larger driver...

theres a website out there that is selling the buddy club seats for like 274 or some thing like that. they're supposed to fit like the brides. they're fixed back though

yeha Im 6'1 or 2 and 165, love the Brix to death (besides the fact that red gets way dirty if you actually work on your car and shit).

Not much more to say, i have already said plenty about Brixes in the past. So you know my answer. If you can compare a Bride seat to a Sparco, Cobra, Momo, Tenzo-R, DAD, etc... you would hit yourself for considering something else. Even the material used on my brix is way nicer than on my friends' SRD.

But yah know, there are plenty of people who think Brides are priced because of their JDM Tyteness, and their function is not all that great. HAh. I guess side bolsters that come up half way to your thigh are suffecient for some people.

they will again eventually.. they had 2 brix on there like a month a go...one sold for like $350 bucks with rails had some damage but its worth the money you can always fix the cloth...that is if it matters to you .......

and yeah 5'10" 150 lbs....thats me 2 and i got a brix....its the best IMO

yeah you have to remember the U.S is the most obsese country in the world.....Japan...definatley not.....so JDM seats are probably gonna be kinda tight unless your pretty slim....well at least bride provides good diagrams so you cna measure to see if you will fit before you buy.....just check out www.tees-usa.com they got the dagrams on there

OK well im about 6'1 and about 200lbs. lets just say price isnt really an issue so it doesnt really matter. im not too sure if id want reclineable seats or not. is it better to have non-reclineable seats? and how much do used bride seats go for anyways?

PANDA
02-06-2004, 01:52 AM
all depends man..i picked mine up for a rediculous price...under $200 shipped with rails...but it's the oldest Brix...first model i believe...surprising still supportive..though could use some extra padding...

couple of friends got newer ones for $400 i think and $600 for a very new one...with rails...

deals are out there...just have the right friends and patience...

reclineable or non is personal preference...also what type of driving you wanna do...some classes require fixed seats..

I am 5'8'' 110lbs, and I have sat in quite a few seats and I feel like I am gonna drown lol...I can't quite find one that fits me nicely. I belive that SCC did a review on a lot of seats, I don't know if it was very informational or more of a price guide, there are probably links to it and some info if you search for older threads...thoght that might be helpful(not being a jerk)

im 6ft 200lbs...

I drove Stan's 86 the other week at Drift Session. He has newer Brix. I sat in it before as a passenger and loved how much the seats held me, but as a driver, they are WAYYYYYYYY to small. The side bolsteres rock if you dont need to move your legs, but if you are driving your outa luck.

So if your as big as me... stay farrr away from a Brix if you really want to drive your car hard.

I currently own a IMSA seat. its a fixed bucket seat. it rocks. Just as much side bolster as the Brix, but much wider.

Benson aka Sileightymania used to have JIC seats. His fell apart. Do they all? I dunno. The bolstering and design is good, just quality.... sketch imo.

why
02-07-2004, 07:18 PM
oh that's disappointing to hear. Cuz they look great and prices is right. Plus is JIC, the brand should have some guarantee on the quality. I am only 5'10, skinny guy, so I would think most JDM seats will fit my size much better then Sparco & Recaro. .

Anyone know seats that fits the best for skinny people?

Arospeed seats are suppose to be rebadged Recaros, even the box they come in say Recaro and so do the plastic pieces on the seat... it is still kinda pricey for a Arospeed, so I dont doubt its rebadged anymore.

Gee.. good that I asked, otherwise i would fall for it. I guess i gota save up for a Brix. Does anyone know the differences between Brix I and Brix II? I know the fabrics are different, but imo, i think Brix I looks better.

this has been discussed to death on FA already...
Aerospeeds are not rebadged RECAROS....there design is similar, but different fabric, different cushion....
those RECARO plastic pieces are easy attainable individually and thats what Aerospeed might have done....
further proof, the Aerospeed part number on the seat is off from the real RECARO SRD/SPEED (this is assuming that they came built from the RECARO factory, but a different supplier of restichers)

Well today I just sat some friends Bride Artis 3 and Zeta3. The Artis3 fit pretty nice for me. I wiegh about 135-145 on a good day/bad day :p Im about 5'10. Theres about a 1/2in-1in on both sides of me.

As for the Zeta3, it's hard to tell b/c my friend is even skinnier than me so he had to put about an inch of padding on both sides. Zeta3 was a little tight on my ass.

I love my bride brixes. Yesterday at buttonwillow they kept me planted pretty damn good. If you daily drive and track your car, it's all about the brix. They could use a little bit of back support though. If you only track it, go for a bucket.

Sparco Evos and Pro2000s have very good reputations. They're light, and FIA-approved. I've also heard their comfort is very good for being a fixed-back seat. The only downside is price, but it's less than most Bride products. Ryan, how's the shoulder room in the Evo?

Nobody's mentioned MOMO yet... I have a momo full bucket (forgot the model # though) that I got used for about $120... It's made obviously for someone both a little taller and a little wider, but it is still not a bad fit (at all) for me. I'm 5'7" and almost 145, but the seat would probably fit anyone up to maybe 6' and no more than maybe 200... I'm guessing. Quality of the momo is nice; not much padding (but it's SUPER light), and it's FIA approved, so for the price, it's hard to complain.

My friend has a reclinable MOMO (I think there's only 1 model) in his RX7 that is also quite nice; I think he paid $400 shipped.

S15 seats?

When I was in Australia last year, I drove a s15 around and I really didnt find the seats to be any better then the s14 seats (maybe just a little better in the side bolster department but thats it). I really dont see them being worth the "JDMness" value when you could get a much better supportative seat, such as those listed abover, for about the same price, or even buying skyline seats, which are much more supportive, for that matter.

contrary to popular belief, you can actually find quality stuff on ebay.

compared to my buddies Bride seats, its merely a matter of badging.

400USD shipped, i sorta expected a really rough seat but was amazed to find a very quality seat. i was extremely happy with them.

only thing is the size, im like 5' 11" 150lbs, so im pretty skinny and i have about an inch of movement in the butt area, so a tiny bit smaller would have been nice, but at the same time... atleast i can wear sweat shirts and fit my seats.

if you plan on doing any track racing these arent any good, because as far as i know, they arent FIA approved. ill be picking up a sparco seat this spring for racing.
