So tonight i was coming home from my night class at the CC i go to. I get off Central Lafayette and i head on my way to the small town i live in, Moraga to be exact. Theres a stop light where i have to turn left to go to the curvy roads that which leads you to Moraga. I went in the inside lane and there was this black z28 camero, very nice looking and clean with flows etc etc u guys probably know what im talking about. Light turns green and i turn left, and accelerate how i normally do. Next thing i know the z28 speeds up and starts pacing right next to me and accelerating fast then slowing down to wait for me... im deciding on if i should run or not... i speed up cus the 2 lane road merges merge and we hit a Red light at the stop light right before the curvy roads, im in front of the z28. Finally turns green and i do a lil turtle start, then i gun it. The road is pretty bumpy at the start so im going around 50 miles, the z28 is right behind me and we are going around 70. Then the curves start coming i slow down for the first sharp turn and down shift to 3rd and start driving up the curvy mountain road going 50-70 the whole way up grip driving and shifting to 4th of crouse =D. Each turn i see the z28 getting further and further behind and see him always try to catch me at the straights but they arent long enough for him to. Finally we reach moraga and i slow down, in the end he was about 8-10+ cars behind me and i turned on my street where my house is. It felt really nice beating that camero which a cocky HS kid proll just got. I know on the freeway i would have terribly lost but wheres the fun driving straight =D. My car just has intake and n1 duals for exhuast on a KA motor and has no suspension... i wonder what would of happened if i had some after market suspension to stop the body roll =D well yea thats my story... I just wanted to post on the forum for anyone who cares to read about my first real race, i dont normally wanna race because if i get a ticket that means im f*cked. No PO-PO on the curvy road haha.. :coold: :) :Owned:

heh...i enjoyed the story. Not saying street racing is right but i think its pointless going around telling ppl how wrong it is cuz i think we all know. There will always be ppl there bashing other ppls kill stories just becasuse they think they are so much more superior. I mean we all like to have a little fun sometimes, dont we?
btw nice S14 dct!

Kenny, thanks for the props about my car. I totally agree with you, i know street racing isnt safe, thats y i usually just ignore the people who pace me and want to race. But hell... sometimes u just want to go fast! if you know what i mean haha...
DRFT... did u get in a accident before or something?? Im not a crazy driver that always races everytime i get... The road i drove on everyday isnt even that bad.. I always went up and down it in my moms maxima at 50mph before i got my 240... anways u seem like u were recently in an accident, and i hope everything is cool now.
thx247, the kid lived in Moraga (where i live) and goes to the old HS i went to cus i saw the parking permit on his car. Pretty sure hes been down and up the road plenty of times. That road is the only way to get outta the small town i live in to 24 and go somewhere haha..
nope never been in a accident, neith have i gotten any tickets, that includes any parking tickets too! ive read too many accidents regarding driving on roads. just dont want another victim to "racing".
In the end just think, what do you got to prove? if you want to prove something do it legally on the track.

its called having fun.. as long as you are in control of your car thats all that matters. its not cool to go 100% balls out on the street, but if you know your limits and are just doing to have fun -- its different.
I am not saying to go crazy on the streets, I am saying to do it with moderation. The way you make it seem, no one should ever drive fast and that they should always go to the track. Well, I never go to the track and I enjoy driving hard in the canyons. To each his own.

street racing is dangerous..but u dont always find the fastest people on the tracks...or have money for it...sure someone may die..but hey! someone else will be reapin in the insurance! jk n e ways as long as it was in a area not over populated and in a situation where someone dumb enough to walk on the roads can get clipped..and this whole "i know what u did last summer " crap happens again... see me and my buddys have a spot where no one goes period. btw people race on the streets i think cuz its more of a rush..compared to being on the track nervous as hell with all those people watch u fail..compared to all those people watchin the medics scrap ur brains off the pavement...different people different taste in racing..like autox and drag or cruisin or dodgin rabbits...a accident is prone :bigok:

I have to agree with DRFT on this. I really doesn't matter how much control of the car you have, it was still a dumb thing to do, especially up and down a mountain at NIGHT. Death comes in strange ways, so no matter how much control of the car you have you can still die. But that's my opinion. Glad you didn't get in an accident though.

Sorry guys, 80% of the races I've participated in were on the canyons AND at night. I guess I too am a dangerous motherfucker and should be locked up.
Gotta watch out for those joggers late night on the canyon! hahaha come on now, highway racing is much worse than racing in the canyon. Canyon racing involves complete car control, and if the person sucked he'd be dead already.
Like I said, I never said to go balls out.. but whats wrong with having some fun and playing around? Man..

Man, everytime some makes a post about street racing we always have to hear someone complaining about it. Sure streetracing can kill someone but so can driving on the highway. I say that if it is done inconsideration of the traffic conditions on the road, meaning if to many cars are present then don't do it or bad weather, it is fine. If you get caught we all know the consequences. Who drives a sports car to go slow? I know I don't.

Heh, now I didn't say anything about being locked up.
highway racing is much worse than racing in the canyon.
I have to disagree, although I've never been on a canyon before, the fact that it has curves and sharp turns, there could be a patch of sand on the road, that he doesn't see, and as soon as he turns, he lose all control, start spinning and off the canyon he goes.
About highway racing, the way I see it, you're not only risking your life, but you're risking others as well. To add, you can also cause a major accident by crashing into a semi........and now I see why you say highway is much worse than canyon. Nevermind.
Not to be critical but I know we have all heard how bad it is to street race but this is turning into a no smoking campaign...... If you dont like or approve of it I understand and respect your right. However It should also go the other way. I am not saying everyone should street race I'm just saying it happens.
I will however say when we do it we create a running road block on both sides of the cars racing so no outsiders can be caught in the middle of our ignorance. If something happens that costs us our life then we understood that risk when we lined them up. I would not want to be responsible for killing another person who had nothing to do with my stupidity. So I do understand both sides of this I just dont agree with driving it home with a sledge hammer.. :naughty:
By the way I smoke to!
There is only 2 places I would and have really "raced" to top speed. On the highway around 2-3 in the morning (no one is on the road) you can go from with no one there. By the time you hit top speed your not even half way to the next exit, and you slow back down to 70mph or so. It's a completely straight lighted stretch also. And this other road that has a stop light and 2 lanes. It's straight also with no roads, driveways, parking lots, etc... leading into the road for about a mile, which is more then enough.

I love the story. I love street racing. Its the best thing ever to happen to cars. In fact 8, thats right 8 people died in California last year relating to street racing deaths. Less than 30 in America. And yes it is 30 lives to many, but its not as dangerous as you all make it out to be.

Canyon driving involves skill and knowledge, a car that handles well (who cares about power) with some good sticky tires can murder lots of things... I've had idiot acquaintances go up to canyons, not knowing them at all (first timers) thinking they are Takumi and all badass, then, next thing you know *bam*.
"I crashed my car."
Learn the canyon, drive alone, or drive shot-gun with a person that knows it. Drive it 5-10 times and just know when the turns, bumps, holes, etc are coming up. I dunno how many people I've had to tell this to before and AFTER they crash...

i find all this arguing amusing...
what is everyone really concerned about here?..that it will be YOU around the next corner who is killed by a street racer?..doubtful..that this kid is breaking the law and speeding and driving recklessly?..we're not cops, so prolly not..that he will hurt himself?..kill himself?..someone else?..my guess it is this issue which gets most of your blood boiling...but why?..who cares about his life?..you don't even know him..if he were to die would it affect your life in the slightest?..no, it wouldn't..you would go on as you always have..
so basically...:gives:..let him race...let him die...one less idiot on the road...

One minute your tongue is an inch away from your Gatorade bottle, next thing you know, you're just like that guy in the motorcycle picture accident.
See that's the thing, we don't want anyone to die, hell I wouldn't want anyone to die from a car accident. I know if some of the ppl on here; the highly knowledgable ones, died, I'd feel bad, because this forum has lost someone they respected and learned a thing or two from. haha this has to be one of the funniest posts Ive ever read.
First of all, you havent been in a canyon before.. so that instantly disqualifies you. Second of all, you admit to seeing how a highway can be more dangerous. Third? Shuttup. :)
Honestly, its a canyon.. if you fuckup its YOUR ass. If you hit a patch of sand hey man, you should have driven that canyon 10 minutes ago to see if it was clear before you start going BALLS out. I've hit patches of dirt, rocks, water, debri.. you name it.. but I am good enough to in almost all cases, control the car. I say ALMOST all cases because there still hasnt been a case where I've lost it, BUT you NEVER know. You dont want to sound egotistical and fuck around with god because he'll be the one proving his point in the long run. This is why you cant be egotistical and why you cant be absolutely stupid in the canyon. You need to save some space for mistakes, mishaps, etc..
As for the OTHER driver, I usually observe them BEFORE i race them to see if they have any car control. Do you guys do that? If you answered no, you shouldnt EVER drive fast or race anyone because you yourself are pretty much inept as a driver.
Good drivers know how to take their cars to a "practical limit" and at the same time, observe other drivers and never race "for the rush" you just have a good time.
Everyone makes this as if its serious business, its just goofing around in a canyon.. no need to get butt hurt as if milliions of people are going to die. On the highway there are SO many more idiots who shouldnt even be doing 60+mph.. so I can understand highway racing, but canyons? Come on now.. thats like telling people not to go hiking because they can slip and fall off of a mountain -- OH WELL, survival of the fittest baby.

I didn't read the 2nd half of the posts but I'm sure I know what they all say.
Having fun on the street? Fine, nobody who deserves a 240 drives like grandma. My concern comes with the fact that most people are stupid...and like the rest of us, get st00pider as their adrenalin starts pumping. This causes them to take risks even most sane people wouldn't take. I bet 99.5% of the time everything is fine, and prolly 90% of the time it isn't fine, the result is a single car accident. Anybody who gets in the drivers seat of a car controls how much they push the pedal, so they are accepting whatever risks are associated with pushing the pedal harder. My main problem is the people who DON'T accept those risks...the poor bastards that get creamed (or scared enough to wreck their own car) by the street racerz. Oh, and stupid street racing stories cause stupid anti-street racing topics. Why don't we just stop posting street racing stories because they're lame?

Mike just likes to drive at night in canyons so he can show of his fancy-ass lights. :fawkd: I think he'd have an advantage just with those while also making it safer for him. I like to mess around too sometimes but I never take it to the limit of my car, or my driving ability for that matter. I think it's good to watch the other driver too to see his/her car control. But in the end it's still dangerous. It's not like there is always a track you can go to 24/7.
