Hi all, new to the site but sadly wont be staying long as I'm parting with my 240SX.

I am trying to sell my 240SX and don't have a clue what it is worth. Maybe some suggestions? I posted an ad on craigslist Red 240sx '95 - Great body shape (http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/2988111654.html)

The gist is the steering wheel was shaking so I got a new car. I parked it and it has been sitting for about a year and a half to two years. It obviously won't start as it needs a new battery and I have no idea on the current condition with it just sitting for so long. It will need to be towed off to the seller.

My question is this, with the body and interior is in great shape and the unknown mechanical condition, what would be a fair asking price? I posted it for $1,000 or best offer and already got a flood of responses. A lot are mad after calling because they cant get it right away for $1,000

If I were to post a hard price and only get those interested in paying that price to take the time to come look at it, what would you think from the pictures? If mechanically it was a total loss and just the body/interior/wheels, what would a fair price be? From the response, I think $1,000 is pretty low as I'm getting cash thrown at me for that.

Better put your flame suit on.

What you listed it for is definetly low... Even if it were a complete mechanical loss, S14's (if it is truly clean) as rollers go for 1500 from what ive seen. I would be asking 2000 OBO if it were me.

You ought to take a little time, and get a new battery to get it running again... Shouldnt have any problem getting 3-4 grand out of it if its running

Since you are in Kansas City, you can try listing it on these websites as well:
KCDrift (http://www.kcdrift.com)
KCSR

If I were you I wouldn't let it go for any less than 3.5 grand.

Your car is worth about $2200 but the internet likes to over price the hell out of 240sx's so $3500 would probably be good for that. Doesn't really matter what condition anymore because it is a 240 and no one actually does reasonable prices for them anymore. As long as you have the title, you are fine.

I'd give you $2000 for it just cuz I want a car with no sunroof...

A lot of it has to do with the area as well though; way up north a no rust s chassis is gold, regardless of running status. Down south however, where the weather is much nicer to cars, they are worth less since rust isn't a problem

I'd buy it for your asking, then flip it for 3x more.
Seriously though just buy a cheap battery to show that it runs.
2-2.5k sounds like a reasonable price.

Get off of your lazy ass and get your new car, get some jumper cables and jump the 240sx, I stored my S13 from the end of 2002 to 2006 and all I did was jump it, been driving the car ever since then, you're going to screw yourself out of a good chunk of change for being lazy, the steering wheel shake could of just been a ball joint or tie rod, since you're lazy you probably didn't even check to see if your tires were balanced or had and bend in the wheels....

I saw the ad and wanted to call you and set up a time to come look at it, but there's no phone number in the ad.

Really interested, would like to take a look before it is gone.

Steering wheel shack could just take as little as $1000 to fix, why you so scarred?

dont forget to add the 3k drift tax

bought my s14 with 50k miles half a year ago. All stock and completely clean. In process of getting 5 speed parts though. Bought for 5k but don't care if it worth less or more. KBB said 5.5k for it.
