i wanted to know if the sentra's sr20de is the same as the sr20det found in the silvia. i mean if they have the same internals because that would mean that i could buy and sr20de and just buy an aftermarket turbo (which i would be doin anyways if i got an sr20det) because i wanna run a lot of boost.

i don't believe they did in the states.
EDIT: btw, i meant that the se-r's n stuff came w/ sr20de's, just not sr20det's. if i had a sentra se-r i'd probably turbo it. sr's r still really nice engines.

Ya, they did. 140hp. Came in the NX2000 and Sentra and 200sx, etc...Same engine minus the turbo as far as I know. Might want to verify the comp. ratio though...Go to www.se-r.net for lots of info.

well yea the pistons are probably diff but i mean the block and heads the con rods and crank shit like that cause the factory beefs all that stuff up on theyre turbo cars to handle the extra pressure

Even if they are the same, would it really be that big of a difference in price? How much would an SR20DE cost...and a $3K-$4K turbo kit on top of that. And you would still have to figure out how to hook it up to a RWD tranny.

the sentra ser was rwd

Neither the sentra se-r or the usdm 200sx (pretty much a sentra) were rwd.

all the se-r's here r fwd. not rwd like lance s13 said.

and you can't just buy a turbo...you have to get all the other supporting parts--a whole turbo kit.

hehe. guess i should reword that. see if this makes sense:
"all the se-r's here r fwd. not rwd JUST LIKE lance s13 said."
i can see how that could've got confused. just meant to say that i agreed w/ u on the fact that they're not rwd <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>.

haha....hey, I'm all for hoping and dreaming, but I don't think this one is as practical as it might initially sound. An S13 SR with proper upgrades would most likely come out cheaper, mainly b/c I'm almost certain the FWD SR won't bolt up to a RWD tranny and you'd still have to buy a $3k +/- turbo kit...that's an S13 engine and tranny right there.

I'm pretty positive the SE-R SR20DE won't bolt to a RWD tranny. They're strong engines though, seen the dyno's for a stock internal 400+HP SE-R (used water injection though).
Oh yeah, late 80's 200sx's (S12's) were RWD, with engine options such as the CA20DE, CA18ET, and VG30E. I'd wonder if any of those would swap into a 240.

I think they all would, but the question is, why would you want to?

sh*ts and giggles I guess....
I wonder how compatible the CA18ET and CA18DET are though. That could be interesting for an S13 project to add alongside my S14 KA project...

hold up hold up now the 200sx was because my friend has one and we try to peel that thing out all the time. now also the sentra ser sr20 is (this is what i wanted you people to tell me) the exact same engine (minus turbo and supporting parts lance) and if they can bolt that engine to a rwd silvia what makes you think i cant do it either. the reason i was thinking of buying an sr from a sentra is because if its essentially the same engine as a japan spec then all i have to do is buy the turbo kit (which i would do anyway if i got an sr from japan) i could probably get the sentra engine for 2 grand less maybe (big maybe) but i would still save money. i thought though that the sentra ser was rwd so it would take some work to make the sentra ser engine bold to a rwd tranny. more work more money so id probably be spending the same amount of money and id just be doing more work. this idea probably would have worked had the sentra ser been rwd

... and if my aunt had balls...
it would still be a poor competitor, like the JDM RWD SR20de.

The 200sx was rear wheel drive. I believe the production run occured from the late seventies all the way to the 88 model year. After, the 240sx replaced it.

Ok...I wasn't aware that an S12 chassis carried the 200SX tag. I'm guessing that would be RWD in that case. I was referring to the mid/late '90s 200SX, which was basically a Sentra as far as I can tell.
