My washer fluid in my windshield washer fluid resevoir has froze up and is rock hard.
Should I unfreeze it squirt all of that fluid out and refill with fluid that wont freeze up?
How would I unfreeze this efficiently?

You could pour hot water in there...I don't think theres any effecient way to do it though.

I was watching a race the other day and the porshes had heated windshield washer fluid reservoirs (stupid fucking word)? I think thats what they were. But if not, any ideas on an effective way to heat the bitch? We need an aftermarket heated windshield washer fluid reservoir! :)

There is an oil heater pad available at jegs which can be used for what you as suggesting. Crisp...How much did you dilute the windsheild fluid? If anything, it should be 50/50, but I use the full strength fluid. They all have anti-freezing properties...

sounds to me like not very good of an anti-freezing agent then...either that or where you live is just too damn cold...lol!

heres a helpful hint from the frozen north

take a phillips screwdriver and a heat gun (a hairdryer will do)

take off the passenger inner fender cover where the reservior is and youll find it. Actually im going to call it a tank, cause thats easier

heat the tank and then drain all the melted weak fluid out
put in some good stuff

I use the orange rain-x stuff that is $1.97 a gallon at walmart. It's been subzero here for about a week and mine isn't frozen at all. It's bling

Exactly. Hey, maybe we could make some $$$ selling CDM washer fluid to Americans! You can hook up the east coast, I'll get the west coast...

Whatever you do, don't just add hot water- I'm not doing the math for you, but you would need a lot of it to melt all the ice (otherwise the ice will just melt your hot water). Heat gun, heating pad. . . Got a garage you can park it in for a night?

off topic. if i lived where it's 40 below, i'd sell my 240 and get a turbocharged snowmobile.

you could always add salt to it.. salt makes water harder to freeze. :D

thelinja

actually, adding salt only lowers the freezing point a few degrees, I think it's somewhere around 5 degrees
