hey guys, so i got some new pads from autozone (free thx to warranty :P) and new rotors from oreilly's (also free thanks to warranty :D)

ive had them on since monday. yesterday (tuesday) when i got to school, i saw the driver side smoking a good amount. wasn't really sure what it was. i cleaned the rotors really good with brake cleaner so i know it wasn't any kind of chemical thing. im assuming its just because they're new rotors and pads. all this was after driving 13 miles on them

when i got home, they weren't smoking anymore. that was after 19 miles.
however i noticed on both sides (more apparent in the driver side) some blue staining from heat (as featured in the picture)

last night i went to dave and busters with a friend, making the total # of miles on the rotors and pads around 50. once again, i saw the rotor smoking. this time it was the passenger side however.

today, i added more miles to them by going to school and back. im now sitting around 76 miles. i checked the rotors, as im keeping a close eye on them for warping, and i noticed the heat stains got more intense.

now some background info: i warrantied my last pads and rotors out because they got fucked up on the passenger side. one of the slide pins in the horse shoe of the caliper froze, which made the piston constantly push on the pads. they went to half life in 2 weeks, as well as having cracking, and white ash from burning.

when i put the new shit on, i greased up all the slide pins on both driver and passenger sides. i also replaced the piston boot on the driver side because it had a tear in it (that was a fucking bitch). there is no leakage of brake fluid, and the boot is in the caliper all the way. slide pins are fully functioning. brakes are properly bled. no soft pedal. went from driver side, to pass. side, back to driver side to double check.

no warping is visible as of yet, nor is there any burning. braking is working as intended. this is for the rear brakes btw. and i have been doing nothing but LIGHT braking, as im doing a 400mile break in period (no pun intended) to properly bed the pads into the rotors.

so im just wondering if anyone knows why the hell the rotors are getting heat stains. i've never had this happen to rotors before. i wasn't even aware that iron or steel (whatever the rotors are made of) can even HAVE heat coloring like this. i thought that was only reserved for titanium and sometimes stainless steel. also for some reason, it also seems to be radiating out from the dip in the rotor from the hub part to the disc part.

u said rear?? check ebrake! maybe cables adjusted too tight, how many clicks on the ebrake does it take till u cant push the car by hand?

what part of the caliper exactly are you talking about though? because i checked, and the pistons are moving out when the pedal is pressed on.

edit: checked this. the calipers still move in and out when being depressed and released.

idk i'll have to check. i did make it decently tight. though its just about as tight as i've always had it for the past yr and a half.

edit: checked it. 4 clicks until it stopped moving. loosened it so it takes 6 clicks. we'll see if that makes a difference.

have you tried putting the car up on jackstands , starting it up and moving the rear wheels to see if they can even move while the e brake is down ? or put the car in first gear while its up and see if theres any rubbing ?
