What is the normal resistance on the 12V charging wire from the alternator to the battery? I'm currently showing 10ohms from this wire to chassis ground, battery completely removed from vehicle.
It seems awfully high. This is a redtop SR20DET alternator.

Something is up because the longer I leave the multimeter leads on the cable, the resistance number keeps climbing, and no theres nothing wrong with my multimeter lol...
edit:
It goes all the way to 20ohms and then loses continuity entirely...

If you knew how a generator/alternator works, you'd know that there shouldn't be continuity across the two terminals. It uses a rotating magnet in a coil that induces a current without touching anything...

If you knew how to read you would see I wasn't testing for resistance on the terminals but on the power wire itself from one end to the other.

No thats the ground. No worries though I figured it out. Thanks though.

Care to explain what was the problem?
