I recently just picked up som urethane side skirts and urethane lip for my S13. Right now the color of the body pieces are gold, and I want to paint them to match my car which is maroon. Anyway I have a shop that will match my paint code, and throw it in a spray can for me. I would like to prep and paint the sides and lip myself. Problem is I have NO CLUE where to start! I've been doing a lot of searches on here but most of the threads talk about painiting the car itself. I don't think the sides an lip will be that involved. I just want it to match up somewhat nicely cause in a year or so I will get the whole car painted anyway. If anyone with some experience or know-how could get me started in the right direction with what kind of sand paper to use, what kind of primer etc. I just really don't know but I want to learn!! Thanks, Jason. :w00t:

I used some sanding blocks from home depot. Dont remember the grit but it was alot easier then using paper. Is your cars paint still very good? I have seen some attempts at color matching and it looked like crap, but I want to ask what store is doing this for you?

Name of the place is GC auto paints in Long Beach. They go by the original Nissan code, so there really isn't any matching or geuss work involved.

be prepared if they don't quite match the sun has faded your car so the origional color might be a shade or two (possibly more) darker than your car when it is all said and done

i painted all the black stuff on my s13 (the part where the wipers go, the black piece where the windows are etc. everything outside). i just used 120 grit to sand, then i primered it with a krylon, then i WET sanded it with damn near smooth sand paper ( i guess it only for wet sanding), then painted it with black bumper paint. it worked. easy. hope this helps.
