Alright, today, on the way to school, a bus driver desided to stop around a blind corner, and the road was covered in snow/ice. well i ass ended the dumb ass. so the car is totalled, pretty much ripped the roof off. So anyway, there is another 91 240 se for sale by my house for 400 dollars. perfect body, not a scratch on it. but the engine has a broken cam shaft. Would it be worth it to buy this 240 and fix the ka24de. or should i find a better one for sale thats running. I dont know if the cam shaft is only broken or are any valves bent or anything else. Anyone know if the valves would most likely be bent from a broken cam?? any help would be appreciated

Did your totalled car have a KA24DE ? Maybe you could rip the head off that.....heads for the DE aren't that much in the F/C section

the cylinder head on my old car is trashed, the dam bumber pushed my house up and broke the cam in half along with half the motor. I was doing like 60 mph. The guy didnt even need to be stopped there. He was parked illegally, in a store getting a coffe. But the cops says its my fault since i didnt have control of my car, how am i supposed to see around a blind corner when there is a building in my dam way.

Probably shouldn't have been driving 60mph on city streets in icy conditions on a blind corner. It totally sounds like it was your fault.

hmmm. well it wasnt on city streets, and the speed limit is 55mph, and it was dark out,and the rounds only had a dusting on them. then again, if i didnt have 300zx front upgrade my fronts wouldnt have locked up. but o well. i think i am gona get his other 240, and just get a new cam for it, and see whats going on. What cam should i get for it, someone was saying about maxima cams are they better? or just get another ka cam

How are you going to put MAXIMA cams in? I don't understand...Maxima=3.0 V6 that came in SOHC and DOHC...VQ30E...and DE...I am going to buy PDM-Racing stage 2 cams soon...I hear they are EXCELLENT,but the prob for your case is they charge you 250 PER CAM for core if you don't have cores......I just found a set for $50 shipped out of a runnning 1993 KA....

yeah, sorry altima, my firend was talking about altima cams or something. Said that using the exhaust cam is more agressive then the normal s13 intake cam. Do u guys think i will have bent valves or anything, it looks like the car was trying to turn over and then the intake cam broke. Any ideas

stock brakes can lock up the wheels as well... if the next car you get doesn't have ABS, get some practice manual foot braking.

I know how to use the dam brakes, but i just put the 300zx brakes on 2 days ago. so i wanst used to driving with them. And as most ppl know who have the z32 brake upgrade is the front brakes lock up really quick for some reason. Atleast everyone who has them around here has that problem. So when i tried to break i was used to the old brakes and forgot about them locking up so quickly. So while i am at it. does anyone know how to fix the problem with the z32 brakes?? And can someone tell me if they think i will have any bent valves in the other car

I was just more lessly wondering if i the cam was broke would there possibly ne bent valves or not. I am gona replace the cam with one from my friends junked KA and then i will be on my way to put the z32 brakes on the new 240. I am happy to say after further investogation from the cops, they are now making the bus driver the faulty one, and not me. But the car is still totalled. I am buying it back off the insurance comany.
you said the roof was ripped off. why would you want it back?

$400 for a clean body 240Sx, you can't go wrong with that deal man. You could get another clean KA24DE swap for $400.
