It's ball bearing. I just sold one on eBay a few months ago. It really is a nice turbo.

These are legit and rare turbos. I had one about 9 years ago and loved it. They are made for Apex'i by IHI turbos. They have a ceramic insert on the contour of the compressor housing and the compressor wheel slighty makes contact with the ceramic insert when the turbo is new so that it rubs and makes it's own clearance. Since the clearance between the ceramic insert and compressor wheel is super tight, the efficiency/cfm that it flows is better than a standard metal compressor housing contour which has much more clearance. The more clearance you have, the less efficiency/cfm that it can flow. Anyway, bad ass turbo!

Thanks Mark,
Also because of that it has been proven that this turbo produces intake temps up to 10* cooler than other turbos.
