Hey guys I need some help.

First of all, I bought four 6 1/2" speakers for my 1997 240SX. What will I have to do to get those to fit? Anything hard/special or is it as easy as just screwing in 3 of the 4 screws, etc?

Next, how do I get my door panels off w/out breaking anything??

Thanks!
John

P.S. I searched already.

Here is the same thing I posted over on the other forums in response to your question...

First of all, make sure that the holes on the speakers mount to the rear deck mounting holes. Wiring is simple, as long as the spade connectors match. The rear deck has the tabs that you pop off and if you break them you can find replacements at autozone or something similar. As long as you don't have the SE or LE, then it should be an easy install, otherwise you will have to bypass the factory amps.

You can get a special tab lifting tool to remove the panels from their mounting holes from any autoparts store or crutchfield even. I used a slim crimper to pop up carefully and works fine. Once you pull the panel off the tabs, slide the door up about 1 to 2 inches and pull away from the door carefully. You then unplug the harness for the windows and locks from the door panel and will see the speaker enclosure.

did you get 6 1/2" or 6 3/4" (aka 6 1/2 oversized)? I think s14s are 6 3/4" all around.

Yeah I got 6.5 NOT 6.75... I can just get some mounting brackets... np.

Is it weird that I have an SE with no amps?

No, I forgot that in the 97-98, they did not have the amps for the SE, only the LE version. In my version (S14A 95-96), I have the amps.

the 61/2 might fit without brackets or modification... depends on brand. you can fit an 8inch midbass in the door panel with no modification :)

Damn, nice, my friend would like that... he's an SQ guru and uses 8 inch woofers for his component system.
