View Full Version : Finally installed rear Pillow mounts
My mom got me tein pillow ball mounts for my b-day, jan 1st and when i went to install them, i found out my ground control springs were not big enough in diameter to fit on them. Naturally i was pissed off but my dad had a hookup on a machine shop so i got them machined down to 63mm and i got them put on today. The rear end slides easier now... but with good things, seem to come bad things. I'm maxed out on height adjustment in the rear and the front. The fronts are set all the way on low and the rear all the way on high and the car is level. I need to raise the rear up some more. What should i do?
BTW if anyone has done the solid subframe using washers..does this change ride height at all??
on a side note...who's your daddy? CP-racing. good strut bars for 65 bucks.

whats the original diameter on the tein mounts, 65mm?
dont teins come with a spacer for that reason? i know T3 pillow mounts sometimes need a spacer to correct the ride height, a local talked to T3 and they made him one.
It actually comes with a spacer that I installed already. it was about 3/4 of an inch. There are two spacers, different sizes. First i installed the small one above the mount, but it was so low it wouldnt come off the hoist, then i switched them around. It sat a little bit higher, then i screwed the ground control all the way up in the rear, then all the way down in the front. I now see the value in buying real coilovers but i'm too deep into it to quit now. I have to wait till my shocks blow before i buy Tein HE's.
Duffman the original diameter on the tein mount was a lot more than 65mm. I didnt measure it but the spring wasnt even close to fitting. I'd guess it was about 75 or 80 mm.
I discussed this matter with one of my friends just now and he said i could order taller springs from ground control but they are like 120 bucks a pair. Where would be the best place to put a spacer. I could put one on top of the shock mount right under the bolt on the strut tower where the tein one resides now. Or maybe i could make a spacer on the bottom adjustable spring perch?? I dont know but i'm open to suggestions. Thanks
