View Full Version : DOHC - SOHC Swap.

Alright, here's the deal. I currently own a SOHC engine in a crapped out 240sx, and in the next couple days I hopefully should be getting a 1993 240sx which has the DOHC engine in it.

I would be looking to take the DOHC out and put the SOHC in....just wondering if there would be any problems I would run into/if any.

So anything I should be worried about?

Im sure you have a Reason for this, but would you please share why you would do that, is it going to be built NA or Turboed, because i havent been able to find a Decent turbo kit for the SOHC, but then again, i didnt look for one to hard

in his sig is states that the SOHC is already built for high NA power

Yes my SOHC is producing 220HP at the crank...the compression on it is 11:1 so turbo would be a no go.

So hmm 155hp DOHC...or 220HP SOHC.

See why I want the DOHC out and the SOHC in?

See that's the difference

You gave me a SOHC - DOHC swap

I want to take the DOHC OUT and put the SOHC IN in a 240 that came stock withe the DOHC motor.

yeah, but the info is still all the same, just reverse.

like...if u have to change X for sohc to dohc....ur basically have to change X from dohc to sohc....just my train of thought there

dude, you will need the SOHC tach...
if you wanted to swap, I'm doing the reverse swap and I'd trade you. You didn't mention if you were keeping the other car and putting the dohc motor in it, if so I'll need to keep it, but it could help us both out.

I"ll most likely be selling all parts i took out of the DOHC car and just junking the rest of the SOHC one as it's a piece of shit.

I might put it up for any possible part wants for like a week, but then it'll be gone.

It'll be awhile before I start doing the swap, so I will PM you when I start, and if you don't have the DOCH tach anymore and still need the SOHC so we couldn't trade - you'll have first dibs.
