Hey so I bought this S13 240sx about 5 years ago thinking I could turn it onto my dream track car/ daily driver. Then the economy took a drive and now I baby my car to try to keep it running just for work. It has crossed my mind to sell it but the odometer is broken and I overpaid and bought the car for $5,000... oh and 6 months after engine blows, so I have an S14 engine now with probably 100,000 miles??

I got a leak in the coolant hose inside the intake manifold and so instead of paying someone I tried to do it myself..... and got the top mani out.

Now i'm looking at it and I'm wondering after spending 2 days trying to take out the mani if there's anything I can replace/clean/upgrade so that my car can last longer.

Also anyone might know why my stereo gets on fire?, sony xplod (no amp) just basic cd stereo

I'd really appreciate your guy's feedback.

Might as well find one in the junky or get one from a shop ..at that point I don't think there's anything you can do..I would say after you get everything squared away and put back together ..flush the hell out of it..I bet taking that upper mani was a bitch huh..had the same incident happen to me

While your at it..change all the vac lines all the coolant lines since you have the space..change those vac tube on the intake mani as well to ..you'll thank yourself later know that you have brand new shit there ..

Side note: Engine still runs strong (from what I can tell at least)

Things that are already wrong with my car:
- It idles around 3k RPM
-I have the Hicas model, and my rear power steering lines leak like a mofo
-engine misfires
-stereo gets flaming hott and smokes, so i leave it off
-no AC
-leaking oil apparently

I'm not that great with cars (obviously) so any feedback that could make my car last would be awesome.

Thanks man yeah, it was a frikin painful to get out. Yeah i'm gonna replace the hose that was leaking with a new one, not junk yard... the entrance would cost half a new hose lol

Just do it right the first time and you'll be glad you did

You actually wanted to go to junkyard and get a 20yo hose to replace the one that's leaking? lolololol. How long is that gonna last before it leaks again?.
Replace all the hoses, that means pcv, water, vacuum. ALL, not just one, not 2, not 3. But all of them. Or you could be taking apart the manifold about 20 times a year if you like, since there are about 20 hoses and each could fail about now.
Might as well replace your PCV valve since its down there, buy Nissan only.
Your knock sensor.
Clean everything up, if you can't do it yourself, bring it to a shop, have them sand blast the mani and clear coat it so it doesn't rust/oxides in future.

Naw, offcourse I wouldn't get hoses from the junk yard... I think that's what S-13 nation was suggesting and that's what I responded.

So i am in the process of replacing the coolant hoses and I can't find them anywhere....

and there's NOTHING online about part numbers or a website to buy them at.

Any ideas????????

You don't need part # unless you wanna buy it at like 5x times the cost. All you need is few of the old hoses with the bends in them, then go to parts store and buy a few feet of straight hoses in sizes you need, and match the ones with bends to the ones they have, some of them you will have to cut to size.
Important thing is if they say they don't have it, ask them nicely to go in the back so you can match up the hoses yourself.
Some people are complete retards at parts store, I went to Kragen's with my bike jacket and he immediately thought the part was for a bike and just yelled out "We don't have any parts like that for bike". In my head I was like wtf is this retard thinking, a hose is just a hose. And BTW it was for a car, but I told him I'm building a nuclear reactor.
