I paid my registration for 2002, but didn't get a sticker b/c the car didn't have insurance or smog (it wasn't being driven).

I did NOT pay the registration fee for 2003 (last year's registration), nor was it insured or smogged.

Now, my tag's expire in Feb (14th I think) and I want to re-register the car, insure it, and smog it..

.. what kind of fines or penalties am I looking at when I go to register it?

* I'm in san diego, CA BTW...

Thanks.

I can't speak with authority on CA's laws but in WV where I live (and most other states I'm familiar with) there is no penalty for taking a vehicle "off the road" for a year or two, you will just have to pay the normal costs to get it registered currently.

well, as long as you prove that it is smogged and have proof of insurance it shouldn't be too bad. Did you register it non-op last year? If you didn't there could be some back fees and fines. You may also have to take it to a referee...test only station. But it all depends...

You will have to pay late fee penalties until you get your car registered again.

All the ever want is your money.
