redoing my suspension all over again and putting in the nismo powerbrace
now we all know it rusts from wear and water etcetc. i was wondering if any of you guys have put clear coat sealant (cheap from local hardware store) to prevent it or other options like powdercoating (little more money)?

powdercoating would be best.

powdercoating would be best.
Since the brace would be facing the elements, I concur that powdercoating would be best. Otherwise, you would have to wash and spray that brace with spray paint very frequently, especially if used as daily.

Rhino line it.
Or just DGAF.

i guess the real question is...how long would, let's say, two coats of clear last under the car?

i'd say get a skid plate (PSM makes them), that way it won't get all scratched up, thus potentially exposing it to rust

I have literally never heard of one rusting or getting damaged. Unless its been smashed by the road from on a low car.

Oh hell no.
That rubberized crap absorbs and holds moisture like a sponge.
Duplicolor wheel paint has proven to be some tuff shit. So is 3m under spray (non-rubberized)/.

Mine has rust specks and the car has 1,000 miles on it. Maybe they are not all created equal.

^^ exactly what my previous one had. not that the brace itself was rusting at the welds or rusting through or anything but probably mostly cosmetic...either way...just gonna spray it with a clear coat and call it a day. thanks for all the inputs

Op you mean homemade nismo powerbrace? lmao
Don't think you have to worry about it much, id be more worried about the heim joins on aftermarket tension rods first.
i had a nismo powerbrace but i sold the car shortly after.
Just let it get caked with grease = protective. lmao
You live in cali, ain't got nothing to worry about. =p
