Wheel offset

Just got my '90 240sx. Lookin to put on 17x9s. I have a 5lug hub and wanna kno the max and suggested offset. Any suggestions help. Much appreciated

Just fyi...some people will be on here shortly to hassel you about this thread...

Measure from your hub with rotor on it, out to where you want your front lip to sit... if you get 17x9's subtract that measument from 4.5" that will be your approximate offset...

You could figure this out to an exact amount if you are good with math.

W = The wheel's width in inches.
S = The wheel's offset in millimeters.
X = Distance from rotor mounting surface to desired rim location in millimeters.
Y = ((0.5(25.4 * W)) - S)

If X = Y, desired offset is achieved.
If X > Y, rim will be sunken in more than desired by difference of (X - Y).
If X < Y, rim will be poking out more than desired by difference of (Y - X).

This is a near impossible question to answer. There are too many deciding factors.

Desired camber?

Desire to be slammed with low camber? If so, do you have aftermarket rear upper control arms?

Desire to roll fenders?

Desire to pull fenders?

Desire to run wide tires?

Desire to run stretched tires? If so, how much stretch?
