so im thinking about a welded diff for my s13 but im not sure. i know theyre great for drifting but the car is my daily. how streetable is a welded diff? ive heard they squeal tires whenever u go around any corner cuz the tires are locked at the same speed. is it worth it for a daily or should i just save for a vlsd or a 1.5 way?

I run a welded, and have for years. Depends on how you handle noise, inconveniences, and some people staring at you.

I daily my s13 with a welded for almost 2 years. Rain or shine and anything from short trips to driving across the state.

You are going to have to go by opinion here. It does eat up your tires quickly and makes constant noise when turning. depends how you respond it. Many others say they are dangerous but that's maybe cause they are stupid drivers. Best thing i would recommend is saving up for a simple 2-way diff from nismo or a helical s15 diff for amazing quality and easily for a daily!

Helical S15 if you can find 1, for sure.

iv ran all 3 man street and track.

i like the welded cuz its always there when i need it for the drift and i dont really give a fuck about the wide turns and screetches and bs

I have a VLSD on my hatch right now its driftable and streetable. Drives like an open. Not for me cuz im only using it for track now so if you are interested in buying it we can work out a deal

yea i had a welded very nice 100% slide ready

it sucked kinda cuz i had blown rear coils so i threw in a stock s13 lsd

its nice locks up most of the time when i need it stays open a lot too

i may try a welded again here now that i have new rear stance coils

1. Use the search option. I assume I'm not the first person going to tell you that.
2. I see welded diffs as a short-term transition while someone saves for something better i.e. a VLSD [even shimming it as well], 1.5 way, 2 way, helical, etc. There are tons of options.
3. Do exactly that if you're tight on money; weld your open diff and start putting money aside to get something better.

Hope it helps.

if I were you I'd save n get a lsd. mine chirps here n there but you can shim it and adjust it to quiet it up. its all personal

I run a welded in my daily and unless you track you car as well I would save for something else because it does wear your tires a lot quicker for daily driving.

You'll spend more replacing shredded tires than you would just buying a used LSD.

Your tires won't squeal on turns if your running sticky tires. Noise depends on the compound of the tire. I've also run a welded on my daily for 2 years with no issues.

does the car get sketchy at high speeds with a welded diff?
