i just finished up my tranny swap about 2 weeks ago and everything went pretty good (id like to thank alan at www.project240.com for all his help)

now all of a sudden when i push the clutch in to shift gears there is a grinding noise that sounds like something is loose...the cluth pedal feels a little soft (like it could be a little firmer) but it seems to engage the slave cylinder all the way

i jacked up the car and tried to figure out what it could be, but i didnt see anything...

could it be the throw out bearing? (are you supposed to grease the actual bearings or just the inner part? it didnt say in the FSM)

or what else could it be? what should i look for? could it be something wrong with the clutch, pp, or flywheel?

anything i can do to narrow down the possiblities for all of ya let me know

thanks

i have a bad throw out bearing in my car. sounds very much like your problem. only happens to me in the veri veri cold. clutch in, suddenly a strange metal low dull kind of whiny grind. shakes the pedal and the steering wheel sometimes. u can feel the vibrations through your seat. it doesn't happen often enough for me to really worry about it. probably plan on fixing it when it gets warmer. btw it doesn't really affect shifting in anyway.

ez fix i think... remember someone telling me drop the tranny, push out the old bearing and push in the new one. dunno about greasing it or what not? maybe someone else can answer. throw out bearing should be 30 bucks or so i think. again... going on what i remember when i asked like a couple months ago... maybe someone else has better info? hope this helps!

kinda sounds like my problem...except i can feel it through the pedal as well...

if i had to bet, thats the problem...

also, could it be some of the retainer clips that hold the TOB onto the fork, got loose somehow and are now my problem...(i only say this because when i installed the tranny, it looked like they didnt want to stay on so well...)

thanks
