hey just wondering if anyone has or is in the process of dealing with Jspec.com? If you have any stories or things you might have heard about them (good or bad) please post it.
thing is ive been trying to order a bumper from them and get it here, but it takes them like 5 days to answer my e-mails.
they have been out of town at the Tokyo auto salon until the 18th, they got back and responded to me on the 22nd, so i thought, good now their back and i can finish this deal.
last tuesday i actually managed to get 2 replies from them (it was a miracle). since then, i've sent a number of e-mails, asking for pricing, payment info, etc. everyhting necessary to pay them and get my stuff. well they replied 2 days ago with "we accept paypal please specify the product you want and the address".
i thought it might be quicker if i called them. Tried calling every day since last tuesday and left 2 messages with return numbers.
now keep in mind that ive sent like 4 e-mails prior to this stating the address and payment method. ALL I need is a price quote and every response they give is just a rewording of the last, asking for the same information over and over again.
frankly its getting ridiculous. and im getting a little impatient. it says on their site first come first serve. feels more like first come last serve to me. i dont want some guy walking in and buying up my bumper before me, just b./c i couldnt get a response so that i could pay.
GRRRRRRRR
don't trip, did you read the intro on the website? it says they got a lot of catching up to do. just be patient.

Better watch out, you'll know if Sam posts in defense because the poster has less than 10-15 post, has been registered for at least 1 year, and sounds offended...
Just forget the whole deal and go elsewhere. What bumper if you don't mind me asking?

Sam is a really really busy man.
almost... 50% of the mods on my car are from Jspec, he is an awesome guy. I've delt with him countless times before, once in a while he gets burried under a mountain of emails and calls and crap. He gets overwhelmed from time to time.
for example, right before he left, i sent him an email reguarding something, he emailed me right back almost immediately. I waited till this monday to email him again for a followup and he hasn't replied yet. Be patient, frankly i'm actually kinda worried about him right now.
Put yourself in his shoes, If you were a popular shop and leave for 10 days. Would you want to deal with all the piled up stuff waiting for you? give him some time. He won't bs you, he is fair, he treats customers well, he gives personalized responses and does business on a person to person basis, all that stuff takes time.

Well,
Sam is a good guy and he's an honest businessman. As far as answering emails, they DO lag, and I'm not gonna lie to you about that. I've never tried calling them so I don't know how that goes.
They just got back from TAS, so naturally they are behind. Add that to the fact that they now have ERNAY FIXMAR (yes I know i misspelled it) doing swaps and I would not be surprised that things are a bit crazy over in JSPEC land.
Just be patient. If you can't be patient then just buy it from someone else. Money talks and if their service isnt good enough for you, then take your money elsewhere.
Good luck

sry if i came off like i was dissing them. I HAVE heard good things about their rep. and that is originaly why i decided to order from them.
im just a little frantic and frustrated b/c im paranoid that sam might end up selling the bumper i want to someone else b/c they are local and can contact him better or something. I really want this bumper as its the only model i could find available....thats why i was so prompt on e-mailing him immediately the date he got back from his trip.
if i sound like im trashing them pls accept my apologies that isnt my intention. i was told from fellow NWN members to come post here to reassure me of Jspecs reputation, and from the sounds of it Sam is a good guy.
me just wants my bumper :(

Sam is a trustworthy owner of a small business that cators to a small niche of car enthusiasts. There are very few (if any) other shops in business as that are both reputable AND knowledgeable that offer the products and services that his small company offers.

alright well sounds good. thx for the reassuring news.
on a side note....i REALLY like your clearcorners lights for the 89-90 240sx's. they look wicked and that red 240 (jdmrice's) with the work wheels and the flare fenders also looks absolutely gorgeous. props on that :D

I ordered a little spin turn knob from them a while ago, not too heavy on the communication but it got here in good time, so I'd have to say my experience with them has been reliable. I've also asked for price quotes on various wangan wings as I have been shopping for one for a couple years and they have usually emailed me back within 48-72 hours.

GRRRRRRRR
Sorry for the delay in respond.
1. I was hit with cellulitis on the right side of my head while I was in Tokyo,
It almost took my life if I had came back here too late. After I came back I took a week off to rest and heal. This is a personal problem so I didn't mention it on Jspec.
2. Taking order is the last priority right now because we took alot of orders while we were away and these order will get priority over anything(ordering of parts, arrangment of shipping, and taking care of local customers).
3. If you had notice there are no product update on our site yet, because I don't even have time to do updating of the site.
4. If anyone has done business with any shipping of parts, you'll know that no one like to be rushed, taking a order for someone who needs something fast, I rather not take the sale it'll just bring you stress and customer problem when they receive the item late. Learn that the 1st Christmas Jspec was open so many people order stuff last min and want it ship ASAP.
5. You are asking for a bumper which takes Semi truck freight, it's not easy to arrange and deal with, anyone who have done it can tell you that. So don't rush me.
Thank you all for your help and support,
Sam
PS---Sorry Paul I've lost your email so just call me or email me.
dont say i didn't say so, just have some patience for the man

Well I can tell you that its better to be closer to sam if you want a rare item.
i can attest to that....
i wanted to buy a bumper a few months ago, we exchanged emails and Sam tells me its first come first serve, no deposits (although i offered to pay in FULL over the phone and pick it up, but he said no for some reason)....i wanted to drive down from Norcal to Socal to pick up the bumper...Sam gives me directions and tells me to come down...i call one day before i was going to drive down and Sam tells me he just sold it to a Local customer....
Now i understand the disclaimer on the website, first come first serve, but i dont understand why no deposits can be taken....
if he takes a deposit, he wins both ways right? if i put a deposit and pick it up, its a for sure sale... if i put a deposit and dont pick up the item, he still earns the deposit...
oh well, other business i've done with him has been great overall...it was just that one incident that ticked me off...

see if it's me...and i have some guy in another country wanting something and he is a total pest with emails and calls and all that...i'm gonna sell to the guy who walks in with cash...makes sense from a business standpoint...most money, least effort...not that this is how sam does business...just trying to give you another perspective on it...patience IS a virtue...

not worth the hassel...deposits are NOT all they are cracked up to be..much more paperwork and contacts and remembering who paid what and for what and in what form and what amount...and i don't think sam thinks about keeping people's deposits and them not getting the product...so i don't think it makes sense to him...he just doesn't strike me as that kind of guy...

sry man i dont mean it that way i had no idea of your situation.

i hope your okay.
anyhow. wow that was a quick response (nothing implied or intended by this).
1. Im sorry to hear of your illness and i hope that you are doing okay with that and i hope you get well.
2. I understand now that backorders are your first priority. I just had no idea what the situation was so i simply got the impression i was being blowed off. but now i understand how things are and i copmletely understand.
3. So your site has not been updated for a while? does this mean that your "New shipment" section in the 240sx only section is old stuff? b/c the bumper im trying to order is from that "New Shipment". (GP sports). If that is all old stuff then, has the bumper been sold already?
4. I completely understand that nobody likes to be rushed. its just that i didnt have alot of time to work with. ive made more time now that i see your situation. I used to sell and upgrade Airsoft Guns and i know how annoying it is to have ppl rushing all the time. once again, my e-mails were sent without any knowledge of your situation. so i apologize.
5. okay i understand semi truck freight takes longer to organize. i wont rush you.
So for anything that might have pissed you off im sry. I was just in the dark and i really dont like it when i dont know what the situation is. so i start panicking and getting anxious.
if there is any more convenient way you would like me to contact you by please let me know.
thx for clearing things up
cheers.

If i could just get a price then i am able to pay for it 100% straight to his paypal account tomorrow if he wanted to. i have his paypal info and everything if i could just pay him to make sure the bumper isnt sold it would be a dream come true..but oh well ill chill on it i guess and see what happens.

Sorry to hear about your illness jspec, hope you get well soon. I e-mailed and called about a product today and was wondering howcome no one responds to e-mail or phone call, but now i know the reason. Your personal health is more important than running the website, hope you recover soon.
PS, is the shop open regularly, if it is I can just stop by and save the trouble of e-mailing and calling.

Oh snap, you wanted the GPSports bumper? For 180sx? Shit dude... I accidently stepped on it in Sam's warehouse tonight getting Dousan's stuff. I mean it's FIXEABLE, just in a couple of large pieces. Mostly clean breaks, but there IS some splintering along the front edge... ANyway, im sure we can just liek masking tape it back together before shipping or something....

well, history repeats itself YET again...
It's too bad people get screwed over by businesses. If that didn't happen as much, places like Jspec wouldn't be considered questionable by non-customers. Threads like this would never be posted and Sam would keep going on and being one of the BEST internet retailers without missing a beat(not like he still won't, but at least he wouldn't have to explain himself becoming ill, etc.)
Sam/Jspec just kick too much ass to be doubted.
Anyway, this topic has been resolved.
