I say save your money and get a manual tranny setup... invest in some track time or something and forget about hp... that additional 20 hp will do nothing for a bad driver... I'm not saying your a bad driver... but there are a lot of slow drivers with a lot of horsepower in their vehicles.
It will cost you a lot to get 20rwhp... you'll end up wasting your money on bolt ons. But if you want to go straight... you'll need a lot more than 20hp to make a difference in your 240sx... remember it's only ~130rwhp in our cars!!!

along with some suspension and LSD. Definition of BAD DRIVER: is the street racer
I say!!! keep the automatic... Get some look good mods... And then when you pay it off and have more cash... get another 240 with a 5spd and mod it...
That way you have a cruze car and a quick car...

yeah, ditch the slushbox auto...switching to 5spd will do more for your driving pleasure then most bolt on mods...and you say you don't have the money for an engine swap now, but what about in a year?..if you were to save up?
also before you upgrade power do like the others are saying and get some suspension..new tires..wheels if you like..lsd if that is the direction you want to go with the car...but i would get 5spd before lsd...
anyway good luck..

how much do you have to spend? what are you planning to do with your car?

have u checked to see if everything in there is still ok... are your tires worn, rotors/pads, maybe bleed ur fluids, change the oil, hell... do you have windshield wiper fluid? etc... u get the point, lots of stuff to do b4 u even think about modding. plus that can cost quite a bit depending on wat is messed up.
after that, 5spd.
learn the car first before you mod it.learn how the car reacts (in safe areas) then you will know where the weakness is, for modding.
