hey guys i have always wanted to do a 240sx build either ka-t sr20det or a swapped 2jz so i got 8k to spend and nothing no shell not parts what do you guys recommend to do to run the hardest without being towed home every pass i do? u guys have being doing this longer than me so every opinion counts

i just sold my srt4 that was makin 450hp on low boost but it would brake something every time i raced... either axles or tranny parts...(roll races, not track)

so for the 240sx im decided to built what needs to be built so history doesnt repeat itself, and sorry if i posted on the wrong section

if u guys had 8k in ur hands to spend it on a built how would you do it and why?

thanks

edit: also keep in mind i live in florida so theres no regulations to the mods i can do, i can run e85 or 110 or 93+meth
i can do pretty much any illegal mod i want without worries

go buy rx7 or evo 8

heard a lot of bad things about rotaries to the point im not even intrested in gettn one unless i do a 2jz or ls2 swap into it

and evo 8... no offence to the ev8 guys but they suck... for the money u waste on them to run fast and reliable u can have a cobra or a supra makin 9s all day at the track n raping everyone (and thats a good 15k to spend on a car i dont have)

just go buy a cressida. slam a 1jz in there. cressidas are cheap and 1jz is pretty solid.

Speaking from experience....think about your goals then plan from there. When I did my first swap I wanted a reliable fun daily that made 350hp with no issues so I decided to go Sr20det and build it up.

At this point in my life I am looking to get something with more power and eliminate the headache of wondering if the motor will blow, spinning bearings or any other BS. So I am working on getting my 2jz worked up and create a fun daily yet still make a few 10 sec passes without too much stress on the motor.

I will advise, think about every possibility that may come up so that you can budget ahead of time. The 2jz swap isnt exactly cheap when looking to do things right and get to my power goals. Could it be done cheaper then I am doing....sure but then your risking your investment. At this moment I am looking to drop the 2jzge in stock form and build up my spare for the winter without cutting any corners. The 2jzge can be had for dirt cheap and the swap is straight forward as is the 2jzgte, but the 2jzge is cheaper and if your planning on going NA its a great setup to have especially in a hatchback or coupe.

Also, if your looking for a great motor that will take 500hp all day and not blink an eye....the 2jz and the LS series motors can do this without a hiccup

KA motors are fun motors. My friend has a fully built KA and it drives like a dream....but it hasnt been cheap in the least bit.

Advise from an Old Man and someone who did his first Sr swap back in 2002:

1-Sit down and think about what you want; Drift vs Drag vs Highway Monster vs Daily
2-Make a realistic goal, none of that I want 1000rwhp stuff (unless you have deep pockets)
3-Think about what it will take as far as parts (aka money and time) to get to that goal
4-Shop around and take your time

If i had 8 grand in my hand I would do the 2jzge (found mine for $200 with harness, ecu, and only 71k miles) in a light weight body. Then in the future pick up a 2jzgte head (can be had for $400-600) and build your turbo setup the way you want.

8k isn't enough for a 240 especially if you want to drag race one. hook up with puerto ricans and they will put you on the right path out there.
