View Full Version : I hate getting beat when I'm not really racing!
Yup so I was at the middle lane at this light and I needed to make a left at the next so when I light turned green I floored it (after a standard driving launch not racing lanuch) and shifted at about 4.5k-5krpm and this solera (sp?) in the left lane I guess was racing and beat me to the next light by about a car length...had I actually got a good launch and shifted at 5.5k-6k or so I would have beat him but still...not by more than a car length or two depending on just how good of a lanuch. So what do these cars have under the hood? Kinda sucked, I felt so lame getting beat by it even though I wasn't racing.

yeah like this time a ricerocket revs me at a stoplight
(me in my frickin atx slightely modded cougar!)
and i laugh at it, then he floors it and FLASHES HIS HAZARDS! i was like WTF?! it irritated the crap out of me...
Oh, and this in another reason I won't get an exhaust unless I have atleast 200whp <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> I don't want to sound like I'm trying to race every time I run my car over 4krpm which is pretty much every day.

What's with the hazards thing? I've never heard of that. I assume it would mean the person you beat was going sooo slow you had to turn on the hazards, but i'ts weird.

i'm guessing the hazards are supposed to signal a win?

well most use it during street races to inform the crowd back at the line who had one the race(i suppose to decide who gets the money)
i love runnin with hondas(s2k excluded), and b4 the light even turns, put on my hazard, really pisses them off when they cant catch me the whole time, one day my ass will be handed to me....
as it was to my friend in his accord v6 last night....man i told him not to fuck with that 2001 svt lightning...lol

ok, i see. Around here the driver that won (or thinks they won) usually just lets out a yell. Stupid freakin rednecks... hehe
the solara probably just had more momentum and jumped in front of you, you know.. like most freeway races are won.. :)
besides, dont waste your time with solara.. those are fwd shitbuckets that handle WORSE than the camry. I never understood that.. why design a car that looks better than the camry, but performs worse.

Well, either way you look at it the nice Solara's have V6 200hp, can't argue with those numbers...once you throw in a TRD SC, its alll over. They're pretty nice cars IMO...hard to imagine any NA 240's beating a v6 solara with equal drivers.

the TRD solara was nice. 0-60 in under 6 seconds i think it was. for a family sedan that's nice.

Yea the Solaras pack some ok heat. 3.0 V6. The SE models come in stick and are fairly quick but pull under .7g's through the lateral skid pad.

I test drove a Solara convertible (wouldn't mind owning one, but only test driving it for kicks) (I looked under the couch coushins for $32k - no luck) this past summer. Every light, my passenger asked, "Why are the tires squeeling? Do they have bad traction." I told her, "No, uhm, that's because I keep flooring it."
Hehe, they've got pep, they've got style and comfort, and they've got a drop top with rear glass window. Too bad they don't have manual transmissions. But they're still on the "maybe some day" list.

TRD makes a supercharger and exhaust system as well as a bunch of other standard TRD high performance goodies which can be installed at the dealer for the solara.
oldsmobile though, maybe you mean...aurora?
