View Full Version : $3,610??
Is that top much for a redtop half-cut shipped? That's how much the quote was, seems pretty high for shipping. Is $960 normal for shipping a clip?

You can find cheaper.
The engine comes with everything you need to do the swap, they said you can start the engine while it's in the clip. It also comes with vlsd... Has anyone had good/bad experience with http://www.jarcoinc.com/

I live near them, well only a few hours away, so shipping was non-existant. If you have a day, just rent a truck or borrow one and make the drive yourself... gas wont cost NEARLY that much money.

they are good peeps..but that is too much....
Alright I'm going to email them back (we have been talking for about 2 weeks via email) and ask them why shipping is so high, and that I'm not willing to pay almost a grand for shipping! What do you guys think I should say? I'm kinda new to buying engines, I have no idea the cost of shipping and all.

WOW!! $3,610 shipped for a front clip is too much. I bought my front clip for $2,700 shipped. Just rented a rock/gravel trailer from U-HAUL and picked it up at the loading dock in-town. I would suggest looking around. Try heavythrottle.com and search the threads for the reccomended dealers to buy the clip off of - this will also let you know who to stay away from when you go to order the front clip.

yeaaa thats overprice IMO anything over $3000 is a rip off for a SR
Picking it up isn't really an option :-/ The company is in Georgia. Do you think 960 is resonable for the size and weight of this? It's 1138.6 miles from them to me. So about $1.19 per mile to drop the clip off. Once you break it down it dosnt sound like to much. Maybe seaking a 3rd party to pick the clip and ship it here is better? I should look into prices... Theres no way I can rent a truck either... the cost to travil there is FAR more!
U-Haul (from there site) 1 way is $547 times 2 = $1,094
That's more then shipping it! Plus gas, food, motel bills, missed work.
$1,094 - Truck about
$103.95 - Gas about
$96 - food about
$380 - motel bills about
$160 - missed work (if I leave on saturday, get back tuesday, missing 2 days work)
Total: around $1,833!!!
960 isn't sounding bad after all LOL

Wuss...
Leave Friday after work, sleep a little in the truck, you'll be back on Sunday. And if you can't eat cheaper than that then you have problems. $5 bux a meal, times like 7, that's $35. And doesn't a buddy of yours have a pickup truck they don't mind putting miles on?

You wanna kill your shipping costs?
Ask local shops in the twin cities if they have any clips in stock. "RS Motoring" at the corner of University and Pascal in St. Paul is selling an SR powered S14 right now on autotrader.com and they had to get the motor from somewhere.
That's right between Snelling and Hamline on the north side of the street next to Checker.
